When I lived in the Bay Area this was always a fun experience when I played Legacy. My Death and Taxes I had spent years slowly building vs teenagers with deck prices in the thousands.

Though amusingly alot of those decks were built with cards I sold thru a store where I was friends with the owner.

my #1 win as a red player was against a kid who liked to talk trash after winning, her decks were bought by her dad at 400+ bucks.

Id played against her 3-4 times generally losing to just a wave of planeswalkers and mythics and she always had something to say after each match.

well one week im running pure burn, round 1 goes to me good win little rough. r2 i get reckt she drops 3 burning trees turn 2/ goes ham. r3 is epic im blowing up everything she puts down , wittle her down to 4 hp, she drops 2 burning trees + something else im down to 3? health, top deck lava axe and just drop that shit on the table.

THE BUTT HURT WAS REAL , no gloats no nothing the smirk on her face the fire in her eyes died was WORTH IT.

i remember round 1 now *id pulled 2 chandras from boosters and felt like hot shiiiiit* and i had used her final and tripple lighting bolted her for 9+ x2 gutter snipes to kill her.

ill take a legit loss any day of the week but dont gloat when your dads deck beats a person whos packing maybe 30 bucks in cards.

Time to cash in some of those older more rare cards? I am always hesitant to sell anything that I cannot easily re-purchase if I wanted to.

Holy Crap! I just checked what was trending on TCGPlayer. So many old crappy cards that were worthless are worth money now. I hope Ice Age, The Dark, and Homelands start to follow lol. Might have to dig through my bulk to pull out value soon.

nothing in ice age will hold over $10, there's about 10 billion copies of the set in circulation and the only playable rare is a vintage-only restricted card that's had multiple printings

How badly could this hurt the game if it was in fact what was going on? Is there anything Wizards could do? Short of abolishing the reserved list and announcing a free for all set tomorrow where all the cards are equal rarity and it will be printed at mass quantities.

I mean cornering the market on that many cards at the same time not only is bad for the game but it is bad for him as well if he wants the cards he is buying to retain their value.

But he legitimately might not care about value and is doing this solely to fuck things up. This is the guy who bought that Wutang album for 2 mil, he has plenty of money to just throw around.

Yes, SE could abolish the RL, but they would complete destroy their game TBH. The RL is essentially an agreement that the secondary market value that collectors expect will remain intact. If they quickly abolish it, they'd ruin the market for their own game amongst the elite companies that have built themselves on this game. The only way they could abolish it would be with AT LEAST a 1-2 year advanced notification and a slow, unannounced reprinting so there's not a panicked sell off. I agree they should do it, but they can't just say "Next set we're reprinting every card in your $100k collection!" and maintain the integrity of their game.

Dude has like 200MIL and is making like $200,000 a day right now. He doesn't gaf.

The RL should be abolished, bad for big stores or not. Small stores don't rely on selling BB duals to make ends meet. They would also retain a lot of their value, if not increase because the demand to play Legacy would skyrocket.
