I think it is just boring to watch, play with, and play against.

Jace was banned with a short amount of time remaining in Standard, IIRC. It was actually fun to watch, play with, and play against (Legend rule was in affect for most of it).

Yeah collected company is in this weird spot where normally the card is fine, but because of certain cards being add since it's been in standard (mainly reflector mage) it's become a serious problem. I wouldn't have a problem with them just banning it from standard till it rotates out as it isn't going to get any better until then. And like welt says it's boring to watch, play and play against.

That's my main dilemma. Bant Company is not much fun but the field requires it. Azban Control is more fun for me since I like ruining people's fun toys and U/G Crush is fresh (and the deck's leading pilot made a nice clean deep run in Baltimore) yet both decks aren't going to perform as good.

I was really hoping Eldritch Moon would've made more variance instead of doubling down on Bant. Fuck it I'll probably end up going U/W Spirits and sack out 7-3 so I can get comfy with the deck as it'll likely be the Next Big Thing after rotation.

Reflector mage was bad enough until they added spell queller.

Just wait for the pro tour. There usually isnt innovation at the scg level. If the pros start busting out cocos then we're in for a boring few months until dragons rotates out.

Any pro not playing CoCo is overthinking things and trying to be too fancy IMO. Sure, a couple of them will do well because of probability, but most will drown out early.

I'm sure a mono White humans will get lucky and show up strong.

For instance, I can't see Finkel or Huey playing CoCo, but they probably should be.

Just sucks the only one real event I can easily attend (only 6 hour drive) has complete shit for meta. At least I'll have extra chill time with my brother and hit up the food pods/breweries/Powells/stripclubs if I punt out early.

2 Pro Tour players and 1 shop owner have told me over the last 48 hours that fetches are being printed in the new Conspiracy set.

I don't buy it, but it is probably the only way Conspiracy will sell product.

Just a FYI for you guys.

I'm hoping it's not true since that means I'd have to wait even longer for Korean Zen fetches.

Watching SCG, Dredge vs Burn. Someone (judge?) has them stop the game because they (the person that stopped it) apparently don't know how the stack works.

    What happened:
Tom Ross (Dredge) discards a card to Insolent Neonate and sacrifices it. (Draw trigger on the stack)
He activates the ability of Haunted Dead from the graveyard to return it to play. (Draw trigger still on the stack)
He Dredges Stinkweed Imp for the draw replacement.

I guess they thought he had to wait until the draw happened before Tom could activate the Haunted Dead?

Well, it is a complex line of play for the majority of players, so I can understand the confusion. Simple explanation helps that out, though.

It would be fine if it wasn't a judge that stopped the match. Judges should know how the stack and triggered abilities work.

Dredge archetype plays anything but magic. And this is a little bit of a breakout deck so likely more than a few nuances to pick up in order to judge correctly.

I just realized that I left out the part that they were under the assumption that he missed the "Draw a card" part of the Neonate's ability. So the Dredge ability of the Imp wasn't the issue. They assumed he missed his draw trigger by activating the Haunted Dead ability.

So my fault for not fully explaining the situation.

Guy at GP Portland this weekend got #1 seed going into top 8 running a RUB deck focused on donating demonic pact to his opponent via harmless offering. Hilarious to watch people lose to it.

    Decklist here: http://magic.wizards.com/en/events/c...sts-2016-08-14

    First deck, Grixis Cat Pact.

I went 4-3 with U/G Crush in Portland. Might have done better if I had spent more than a week learning how to play it but the deck is hilariously fun to reset, drop an 8/8, reset, drop an 8/8, etc.
Watched the Catpact in action during the top 8 and was very impressed. Wished I had thought of that since I was a huge Trix player back in the day
