went to test out the post-miracles meta today along with my buddy. forgot to do a preliminary deck check and left the house with a maindeck at 55/60 (4c reanimator which hasn't been updated in over a year), -4 polluted delta -1 brainstorm, had to play with a bunch of sideboard stuff in the main. i went 1-2-drop, which wasn't that strange given how fucked my deck was... but somehow, over the course of 7 games, never had an issue with mana running 13 lands and 0 petals, lol. matchups were some hivemind/pact combo (2-0), bant/KotR deck (1-2) and UBg reanimator (0-2).

my friend had much better luck with his first outing on UG infect and split the top prize after going 4-1.

I haven't been able to play much tournament Magic on account of my kid being born a few months ago, but I would have made the trip to Philly it they brought EW back to the Expo Center. Post-scrub out donuts from Beiler's is almost better than playing in the actual tournaments.

Those are the costs to activate those abilities. The resource to pay for it is the Loyalty counter in the bottom right of the card. So Bolas starts at 7 loyalty and if you want to use the top ability you need to pay (add) 2 loyalty counter to him increasing his loyalty to 9. You can only use a Planeswalker once per turn at sorcery speed unless a card says otherwise.

adding on to this, that value is also their life total in a way, so if your opponent has one they can attack them or burn them. Theyre sort of like an attackable enchantment.

Noncombat damage you control can be redirected to an opponent's planeswalker. Life loss does not count (IE Bump in the night won't redirect.) You must declare that you are attacking a planeswalker.

Costs are paid first, so if they + it, the loyalty is added first, so by the time you can respond or do anything, the loyalty has been increased (or decreased). IE, Theycast a PW that comes into play with 3 loyalty. You have Lightning Bolt in hand. They +1(2, 3, whatever) their PW. Their PW goes to 4(5, or 6, or w/e) before you can't Bolt it.
