Tricen we should play some Mt:G on apprentice again, that was fun. Would like to get caught up again with the new sets, assuming there has been a few since we last played.

Yeah that'd be awesome.
We basically took the best 360 cards we could think of, sleeved them up and drafted. It honestly helps a lot with drafting skill as well, as you are building a deck, not a random bunch of good stuff. You plan ahead, making picks based on what you think will wheel, as opposed to just taking the best card (because, in most cases, they are all the best cards).
Sooooooooooooooo much fun.
I gotta try this. <_<
A good cube is a BITCH to make.
Do you have any tips? My friend and I have a pretty good card pool goin.
Think we used Evan Erwin's pool as a starting point (from starcitygames.com).
Are there any DO NOT USE cards? I mean obv not power 9 and shit, but are there any cards that are just way to OP?
Basically a Magic noob here with like 500 cards from 5-10 years ago when it was a fad in my area, several of my friends on campus are fans of getting together to play magic on weekends, I was wondering what would be the best way for me to get back into it other than finding those old cards and hoping they were worth a damn?
How much money would I need to put down on cards to get a good newer collection going from packs and which pack types have easier combos to make? Or should I not even bother going that route and buy singular cards or something?
Is there somewhere I can go online to practice some games again before getting my ass beat by these guys in a few weeks or at least someplace to brush up enough with changes to rules (other than the obvious online rule book)?
Thanks for the help in advance.
You could try and find a local store around you that holds Friday Night Magic or maybe just some random people who play during the week. Watch them play, ask questions about what's going on. Most of the time, people are willing to explain the rules if you express an interest in learning.
Also, this may be a long shot but around here the store owners don't mind lending people their personal decks so they can play a few games. You might look into that, after you've caught up on newer rules/cards and feel comfortable enough to get your feet wet.
Be careful, if you decide to trade, people will gut your collection. I love havin newbies come in with a bunch of older awesome stuff that's worth a bunch and trading next to nothing for it. To get a top tier competitive deck goin, it'd be kind of expensive. There's some pretty cheap decks that do well at FNMs though. Red deck Wins is pretty easy to make.
There's really nothing too powerful for cube, imo.
It doesn't have Baneslayer Angel.
Edit: Or Jace, damn WU control has to shell out a lot of cash to be 50% against Jund.
Everyone go download apprentice MTG and update it to the newest sets so we can draft or play T2/extended/legacy :3
How does it compare to MWS?
Oh I dunno, I've never used MWS. Is it free?
Yeh free, and online play.
