The redirection is a replacement effect, which is why it's chosen upon resolution. The spell has to resolve for there to be a choice.

And I know I sound like a newbie on here now, but I used to travel for this shit weekly to PTQ/Grand Prix/Etc and Craig Wescoe/Brian Davis were my travel partners. There was a point in time where I knew the rules inside and out, but the above-mentioned just doesn't sound correct.

EIther way, I'm getting back into this shit and the Jund decks look fun. Where do people play online now for practice?

I'm positive that you target the player with the burn spell on MODO, I'm one of those worthless Magic Online grinders. It makes more sense when you think of spells like Blightning where you target the player for the discard and redirect the damage to their freshly cast Jace. With a little snicker.

There is an anime con going this weekend, and attendee can enter RoE prerelease for free. Assuming that I didn't oversleep on the prerelease day, I'll be attending my first MtG event in...5 years or so.

I think people usually use Apprentice (though I haven't touched it) and Magic Online is also available but you would have to purchase online cards to get involved with that... another can 'o worms.

Tribal spell is such a dumb concept

I mean what the fuck makes shit qualify into a tribal spell? why is bitterblossom a tribal enchantment while this awakening zone and goblin assault isn't when they're more or less functionally identical for the tribe

My guess is they just use the keyword randomly because it was on Goyf

Well, they made it tribal so that the land can make it cost less.

Basically, it's a rarer than rare rarity, and while they have been trying to make decent attempt to not make them tournament staples, every now and then you run across shit you'd want 4 of in your deck and realized that you're about to pay 100 bucks for the playset.

More like 200+ for a playset of them since Jace & Baneslayer are in the 40-50 range each.

Another online program people use is Workstation.

I get that, it's just that the tribal label on spell and permanents are so fucking random in usage, I mean why isn't feast of blood a tribal sorcery when its flavor is 10x as strong as most of the existing tribal spells.

More like 200+ for a playset of them since Jace & Baneslayer are in the 40-50 range each.

No, Wescoe only goes to grad school there now. He is originally from Nashville, TN. I played with him literally....12 years ago for about 5 years. Brian Davis was from Tennessee too, but from some random town. I quit after Rishadan Port/Masticore rotated out of T2 I guess....
