I need advices. Tomorrow is my first ever booster draft M11 pre-release event.

Now I only re-started playing physical card not too long ago, played my first tournament tonight, finished 9 outta 10. lol, I know.

I need tips and advices on what to absolutely do, and what to absolutely avoid at all costs.

My problem: Since I didn't keep a budget for cards last pay and I decided to restart out of the blue, I only bought 2 intro packs wich had 2 sealed deck and 2 booster packs. I got 2x flyover from WWE. None of the cards from boosters were helpful, so my question is, with the cards in a flyover 2x, what would you keep, what would you toss out.

I added 1 ice age, 2 lifelink.

at most prereleases, you won't be playing Standard, you'll be making your deck there in a Sealed format

thats 6 boosters to yourself, to build whatever you can. I'd recommend sticking with 2-3 colors, going 4 will hurt your manabase. Removal is golden in any color, and try to build around good uncommons, and rares, even some of the good commons.

Well draft isn't what I thought it was, lawl. I got ass raped. won 1 of 9 games, and got another victory (2/0) by default.

I still walked away with silence, Obstinate Baloth and foil act of treason... xD. To be fair, my games were matched with the top ranked players there except 1 round.

Did booster sealed last night. Got 6 good packs and was able to make a solid blue deck. Got 1st. Kept milling people or just having overall control of the field with a pair of mind control's and some unsummons. Jace was a nice pull for the deck though

Went 3-1 in Sealed at the prerelease on Saturday. Went R/B even though I wanted to splash White as well.

My White had 2x Celestial Purge, 2x Excommunicate & Blinding mage which is why I wanted to add it. Also opened a Gaea's Revenge, but my green sucked. Won 3 packs and pulled a Jace, Glacial Fortress and a Foil Elvish Archdruid.

Later in draft I opened a Foil Mitotic Slime and got a Foil Bloodthrone Vampire in the same draft which was neat. I went 0-1 there, but beat down with the Vampire (with Whispersilk Cloak) and Reassembling Skeleton which was fun.

This has to be one of the best sets I've played in limited.

I played Dredgevine last Friday night before the prerelease...absolutely wrecked house.

Round 5 vs. Esper Control
Note - Rounds are 50 minutes

Game 1: Lasts 40 minutes with a board stalemate (I can't really do anything about his huge life gain from Baneslayers, but my creatures are indestrucible due to Eldrazi Monument + 4 Bloodghasts making sure Monument isn't hurting me. I also had out about 10 other creatures).

The game was going to end in a tie, but I just scooped, and his friends laughed. (It was a store we went to for the first time, so they thought I was a moron).

Game 2: Beat him in 5 minutes. It goes to game 3 and the judge says "5 minutes remaining in the round while we are shuffling)

Game 3: He shuffles forever and then when I go to cut his deck he starts separating his cards into piles to shuffle more. I just kind of laugh. He mulligans and then re-stacks in piles twice. Basically, he thinks it is over.

Turn 1: I play a Island and a Hedron Crab (knowing he will Path it). He says, "Well I learned my lesson, Path him". So I have 2 lands. He plays a tap land.

Turn 2: I play a Hedron Crab. I play a Misty Rainforest and mill 6. I get 2 Vengevine, Bloodghast, and 1 Demon. I play a Doppleganger since I have 3 total lands from path to return 2 Veng + Bloodghast.

Turn 3: I play a Hedron Crab, Verdant Catacombs milling 12 cards hitting another Veng and Demon. I return a Demon into play, copy the Doppleganger, and I attack for .....

18 on turn 3.

He rages to his friends, and I laugh going into top 8 undefeated as usual.

I wish I was good at drafting. Are there any strategies outside of know the cards and what they do and hope to get them?

Drafting is the most skill intensive part of Magic, it's all about signals and trying to cement yourself in colors without the people passing to you being in those colors. I love it.

I wish I had the cards to play Dredgevine, the deck looks like so much fun. I think it's probably one of the most skill intensive decks in Standard right now. What's your decklist look like?

I'm currently building and tweaking a U/G Polymorph deck.

I don't play the Borderpost. That card is so bad early...no idea why people play it (I understand the Landfall, but 2 exrtra land also result in the same effect as a top deck...lol)

Not sure if I will play the deck again. If I did Mana Leak might be a 4 of in the main deck somehow. This deck can't really do anything against a Baneslayer....it rolls over to Mythic pretty hard.
