Such a good looking set, I'm liking a ton of deck ideas, no idea what I'll playtest first.
I see about 4-5 worthy constructed rares/mythics (other than the dual lands). There goes wasting money on boxes.
I have no idea what to make of this set....
Its really BAD and SLOW. Looks like Eldrazi Ramp for the win....and beastmaster ascension.
Monowhite artifact aggro....
G/B infect too. Hell goblins even shows some real promise...
BAD decks show REAL promise. UGH
When you take dirty mechanics like Cascade out of a format things tend to change.
Glad to see it go.
I'm more than glad to see cascade and blightning go down the tube. Back in the day of slower magic, we still had good combos and cards like Replinish. This is boring z_Z Maybe there will be a mutlitude of viable decks to make it interesting though.
Draft looks really fun. Give me Wurmcoil Engine please :D
So, how about that infect mechanic. -_-
Mimic Vat was key to my winning the prerelease. I just built a blue/black control deck and won while stealing their creatures.
So need some opinions on what would be some good common and uncommons for drafting in this set. Like if i open the pack and the rare is trash name me a must draft card.
Mimic Vat is probably the best card in the set imo. Draft artifact hate and bombs lol
I have a question, please let me be wrong.
I got a Koth of the Hammer here, and the first ability reads:
"Untap target Mountain. It becomes a 4/4 red elemental creature until end of turn. It's still a land"
My question is, no haste? So what are you supposed to do with that 4/4 that can't attack and won't last to block anything?
Well it is still a land so you could tap it again for more mana? Though I don't think that is the answer you were looking for.
If that mountain did not come into play this turn, it does not need haste. Much like Gideon turning into a creature to attack, can't do it the turn Gideon comes into play (summoning sick) but can any turn after.
All permanents have summoning sickness. Not being a creature doesn't really let an upset tummy keep it from tapping to use an ability, or attack though. If a mountain just arrived, and got turned into a creature, it would be far too queasy to attack. However, if another mountain that had been hanging around for at least since your upkeep, it would be free to attack, no haste needed. This likewise applies to artifacts that are animated (next set) being able to attack on the turn they are animated.
Been curious for a while. How does everyone sort their cards, and what do you keep your collection in?
Personally, I sort by color, then card type, then alphabetically, but I'm starting to think about sorting by CMC as well, like maybe card type, then CMC, then alpha. As for storage, I just use some of those long cardboard cases.
