Just no. U/W is awful right now. Sure, it took a couple of states, but it was one of the most played decks and took home about the same number of states as U/B control which had an infinitely smaller % of the field.

I played U/W twice in SCG FNM and twice in the standard open; I demonlished them all 4 times like it was nothing. The new Elspeth is just absolutely awful right now, and Venser is too cute and too expensive for what he does. Wall of Omens is trash in the currently format (when it can't even stop elves, boros, WW, or red....whats the fuggin point people?).

Baneslayer and Sun Titan lose to counterspells, Voilition Reins, or Doom Blade (the best removal in the format, which is why everyone is moving to U/B control).

Creeping Tar Pit is also insanely better than Collonade is right now.


Lets examine Wall of Omens:

U/B control: Worthless. Wurmcoil/Creeping Tar/Grave Titan/Frost Titan all trounce it
Boros: Adventuring Gear, Step Lynx, Double Strike Card, Goblin Guide+Bolt/Shock, Protection from X white card, and the 1/3 red creature all trounce it
RDW: Doesn't do anything against Koth/Double Strike
Big Red: Wurmcoil/Koth/Masticore - Enough said
Eldrazi Green: Lol....
Valakut: Lol....
U/W Control: Lol....
Elves: Wins by Overrunning multiple times; Wall = Worthless
White Weenie: Wins with Argent Armor or whatever the +6/+6 is with Stoneforge

Result: If you are playing Wall of Omens in the current format, you are playing 4 dead cards, and you need to learn analyze things a little better >_>

Even in a singleton deck, why in the hell would you want a Wall of Omens?

Walls in general suck, so all you are doing is cycling to draw a card....just have a better card to begin with.

Cycling doesn't give you a 0/4 for 1W, but sure. Putting 38 better cards is a great idea. In 6 turns of just putting mana, then I can bomb the hell outta em. Wait what's that? A goblin guide? Oh Warren Instigator? Well damn did you just put a goblin embler and a goblin chieftain for free?

Is that a lotus cobra? Attacking?!

You must seriously be the worst player ever.

As a singleton, it is cycling for 2. In that instance, are you actually worried about running into a first turn Goblin guide, warren instigator, and a chieftan that early in the game?

Seriously? LOL

If they mulligan to one they have still have only seen 28 cards possible in their deck, and that is still less than a 50% chance of running into a mountain + goblin guide turn 1.

Get better at everything in general.


Edit - And if you were talking type 2, Goblin is awful dude. Get a clue. It will take a random tourney here or there, but it sucks.

Edit 2 - If you opponent attacks you with Lotus Cobra early in the game, and you are playing WHITE, they are obviously an AWFUL PLAYER since Path is gone and CONDEMN is being used now.

AWFUL AT LIFE; I honestly believe a rock could outsmart you....

U/W isn't as strong anymore since it lost oring and path. U/B has the removal the format needs. Good thing I have valakut and pyromancer's ascension on me. Valakut is such easymode, lol

So I guess I should go U/B instead of U/W then? What's special about black in control outside of doom blade consume the meek and if you don't have any grave titans or consuming vapors?

Get some grave titans. Black control has perm removal at instant speed (which doesn't require the opponent to attack) with Doom Blade, hand reveals & hand control (Duress, Inquisition of Kozilek) which white does not, memoricide which can neuter many decks if it goes off. Hexmage will destroy planeswalkers. It also has Grasp of Darkness and Disfigure for artifact/black heavy decks.

Yeah, right now, U/B and shaman variants are most likely the decks to beat. Shaman variants kind of crumble easier than most decks, though.

Black Titans are hard to find over here. In fact, any titan is. Everybody is keeping what they have and most of us still need more. The only titan I have more than 1 of is sun, lol.

For some decks, yeah. But there's always ways around it.

What does Eldrazi Green and Valakut hope to do against it? You take their Titan, and then the Avenger if you get a second one off. Or you counter Avenger after, or you Doom Blade it in response to the tokens triggering on the stack.

Without Titan, Valakut is too slow, and U/B control just uses BigJace/Preordain/LittleJace/Ingenuity to get Tec Edge for the win.

It got wrecked left and right this past weekend at both major events. It isn't the powerhouse you think it is lol.
