Futurama is UNOVER! (Original Cast is back!)

I'm gonna play the waiting game with this, the movies disappointed me but I get the feeling these episodes could be high-quality again. but we'll see. futurama is my favorite series of all-time though, so it'd be nice if they could put out some really good stuff.

I guess I'm one of the few that's feeling sort of eh? I personally think the last Futurama movie was a perfect ending, and now it's gonna start back up again? D: Why can't the good things stay dead. Ah well. I hope they still handle it well and don't bring any mushy crap. Gimme some good fun instead of the drama.

Are you crazy? Some of the best episodes of Futurama managed to mix in just the right amount of drama (albeit, less than the movies I'd say) which was part of what made them so amazing. The Luck of the Fryish, Jurassic Bark, The Sting, and The Why of Fry are all great examples of how some dramatic scenes have really made the show.

Of course don't get me wrong, comedy has always been #1 (and even in those episodes, it reigns supreme). As long as they keep a healthy mix of their smart humor ("and the winner is... #3! in a Quantum finish!" Professor, "No fair! You changed the outcome by measuring it!") and the more obvious stuff, as well as keep the personalities in tact, I'm already celebrating. Futurama was always one of my favorites, if not my favorite show of all time. I quote it so often and almost know all the episodes well enough to recite lines verbatim (and I still enjoy watching them).

It is true that Futurama got better with age too. The professor was always great, but they really started to give him some of the best lines of the show later in the series. I'm looking forward to new episodes and I hope Futurama gets the lasting appeal on comedy central that Family Guy / Simpsons gets on Fox. The movies weren't exactly like the episodes, but I still have a lot of faith that the show will continue on nearly the same.

Like I said.. it's not like I hated the show. I loved it, but it went from getting axed, to coming back for straight to DVD Movies, and now a series renewal. I guess it's awesome that CC got ahold of it and all, and I'll be interested in seeing how it goes, but I won't have super high hopes or anything. I just liked it a lot because it didn't go the route of the Simpsons with an extremely long series where it got too old, or Family Guy where they use reused reused jokes to fill the time and are hardly funny.

Currently the forum title is Entertainment Weekly just with BG added to the front. I figured that since Futurama is awesome and Bender is such a great character that we could have Bendertainment for a little bit.

Ahh the show is coming back and I didn't even see the last 3 damn movies yet. Can't wait for the show to come back though, the robot devil is the man!!

NEW YORK (AP) - Comedy Central says it's bringing the animated comedy "Futurama" back from past cancellation for 26 new half-hour episodes.

The satiric sci-fi series, set in "New New York City" in the third millennium, will resume production more than six years after ending its four-season run on the Fox network in 2003.

In 2008, those original 72 episodes were supplemented by four extended length adventures.

Along the way, "Futurama" has found success with DVD sales and in repeat airings on Comedy Central.

The new episodes, produced as before by Matt Groening (GREE'ning) and David X. Cohen, are expected to air on Comedy Central beginning in mid-2010. Twentieth Century Fox Television could license the new series for a broadcast network.

Why didn't the events at the end of the 3rd movie (Bender's Game) have any impact on life in the 4th movie? Should we assume that it won't be addressed in the new episodes, either?
