Has his moments? The professor had to be near the top of my favorite characters. More memorable lines from him than almost anyone else.

The easy part was getting the brain out, but the hard part was getting the brain out.
It's hard to decide who my favorite character is, but Futurama is a rare show where I like pretty much every character. I think it's a tossup between Zoidberg, Zapp, the Professor and the Robot Devil. I love Hedonism bot too. So hard to decide.
All glory to the hypnotoad...

Best character on the show by far, and I'm not just saying that because of the hypnosis. Really though, I would probably go with the Professor as my favorite, but it's hard to go wrong with any of the Billy West characters, he does such an amazing job with all of them.
Bender: Shut up and pay attention to me, Bender! Look, I love life and its pleasures as much as anyone here, except perhaps you, Hedonism Bot. But we need to be shut off! Especially you, Hedonism Bot.
Hedonism Bot: I apologize for nothing!

Zoidberg, Bender, Morbo are my three favorite characters but I really do like them all. They work so well together that they need all the characters.
Oh God, how did I forget about Nixon's Head. He is the best character by far, and nothing anyone says will change my mind, AROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I'm pretty sure that the first time that I saw Hedonism bot, I actually spit out whatever I was drinking. It was so funny, and one of the rare moments where I felt I'd remember it a joke from a cartoon for a long time to come.
Well, my implication was that Futurama can be a qualified successor to the Simpsons. With its return it would be a good time for them to finally bow-out; leaving with what little originality it still has to concede to its superior. Of course, with them being on separate networks now that's not likely.
the professor is the most underrated character on the show. everyone loves zoidberg, and sure he's great, but the professor is just fucking hilarious. his lines tend to be so out of left-field. my favorite is still from the time-skipping episode, paraphrased since I can't remember it exactly:
Professor: "Now to begin the long and arduous task of mounting the gravity pump to the-"
[time skips, ship is flying away with the gravity pump attached]
Professor: "Off you go, apparently."
just kills me every time.
I like the two warlords from Omicron Persei Eight, their interactions are hilarious. Also, some of my favorite Farnsworth quotes have to be from Bender's Game. Namely: "There's only one hope left: The Cave of Hopelessness!"
Don't worry Fry, I too once spent a nightmarish time in a robot asylum, but now its almost over. So long~
Yes, I'm willing to say now that the professor has more of my favorite lines from the show than anyone. From the first episode ("Let me show you some of the different lengths of assorted wire I used!") to the last one, he just had so many golden moments. Its a combination of his lines and his actions as well, as is evident in an episode like The Sting, when he goes to give Leela a brain scan, she asks "is this machine some sort of brain scanner" "some sort yes. In France its galled a guillotine!" "Professor! Cant you examine my brain without removing it?" "Yes, easily!" Its just back to back too, every time he speaks, I can't help but laugh.
Why....why....why didn't I break his legs?!?
Futurama should have been the Simpsons successor years ago. The Simpsons went stale seasons ago, and they should have just ended the series on a good note and let Futurama take it's spot on Sundays...it's not like the show isn't in syndication because it comes on 2 times a night as it is. The voice actors for the simpsons wanted a huge raise to get 500k/episode and their last season almost didn't happen...would rather they would just end it. I'll admit I didn't like Futurama at first but then after catching it on [adult swim] I became attached to the show.
Omfg, I forgot about him but I fucking LOVE Roberto. He's so underrated.
Now stand back, I gotta practice my stabbin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The professor does have some great lines, but where is the support for lovable old Bender? He's been great since the series started. Case and point:
Bender: "Oh, no room for Bender, huh? Fine, I'll go build my own Lunar Lander! With blackjack and hookers! In fact, forget the Lunar Lander and the blackjack! Ah, screw the whole thing."
Bender is a pop culture icon, but he can't be forgiven for Wakka and Kimahri.
horrible, horrible list. just plain awful. I mean it's all a matter of personal taste but their taste is pretty bad imo.
where's the love for Hell Is Other Robots? Obsoletely Fabulous? and How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back? granted Hermes is not the best character but that episode was fantastic, especially the song. and it had one of the best endings ever, when Zoidberg says "Now, it's time for my song! When I was two there was a hurricane in-" [screen fades to black] "awww"
in fact, I would grant that Hell Is Other Robots and Obsoletely Fabulous are a matter of opinion, but How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back is stuffed to the brim with hilarity, there's no reason for it not to be on that list. from the labor camp wherein "all the work is now done by a single Australian man" to Grade 19 getting called out in the middle of his song, to one of Bender's best lines ever "I am Bender, please insert girder." come on people.
