How do you name your characters/account names?

I usually just try to go for my name Britton. On the off chance that's taken I try for Kaeden, Theodric, or Dietrich. I was pretty lucky that my family has a bunch of cool names to draw from.

I have a horde of names I made up back when I played Diablo 2. I would figure out the first two letters then just start typing till I found something that worked for me.

Mines lame and simple. I just steal MGS names. Gray Fox as a main, Solid Snake and others as mules. If they are taken I go for more obscure ones such as Null which is another name for Gray Fox or I even once settled for Foxthegray.

I started FFXI knowing I wanted to main BLM, so I went with something elemental, Kobalt. Know I just use it for everything or variations of it, Kobalt, Kobby etc. Even my new car is Cobalt blue.

FFXI: Tykkaru, I just added something I found sounded cute and added aru to it.
One year later, I met a norwegian player, and they told me that Tykk meant fat in norwegian. >.<

Otherwise, I use Albert (after Albert Silverberg).

I nab them from books. A few of my FFXI characters (Username included) were from William Gibson novels, though due to Vent chat and the time I spent in FFXI I've become pretty attatched to the username and I use it where possible.

Pick any server on any game and you're bound to find someone named Wintermute

Ivaden was the result of two random generated names from FFXI for humes, took half of each name and made it this. Can't remember what the two names were, don't really care. I've used Ivaden for a few other things like Oblivion and maybe a character when I replayed Final Fantasy Tactics or something, but FFXI has been my only mmo. Maybe on KOTOR/II as well, I dunno.

I chose Waef by modifying a name of someone else's character a bit, and now I use that for most things. If it happens to be taken, I just mash on my keyboard until I find a combination of 3-5 letters that I think sounds cool.

In high school there was this kid we used to make fun of, he was funny looking and fat. His boobs were bigger than several girls and we thought he hid food under them. He became known as Tit Boy. Whenever he'd enter a room or something, someone would yell TITBOYYYYY but we determined proper spelling was Tit Boyiee. I was the nicest to him, got his picture in the yearbook and such - and he had no clue about the joke. It was an inside thing.

The name stuck to me because whenever we went snowboarding (which i was really good at) and did something, someone would just yell BOYIEE or YEAH BOYIEE idk it was highschool and its fun. It has nothing to do with Flava Flave which is a misconception, but once in a while someone would mention flava to me in chat.

I haven't used the tag for anything but this forum and my old hacked FFXI character in a long time, now I have a lot of trouble coming up with names. I have an alt hunter on wow named Coriolis, my rogues name is Systolic (I'm in the medical field). I try to use medical names, or medicines, or things like that, but it's really hard for me to find something I like. I'm actually in the process of trying to find a name for my alt warrior, currently leaning towards Araios which I think is a spartan king or something, fitting for a warrior. Really can't think of anything else.

Made Falisa up on the spot for a social game back in 2002, and ended up playing that game a lot until I found FFXI and just stuck with the name. Now I can't imagine naming myself anything else. I used to think it was all unique until I decided to google myself and found out..not unique whatsoever. A real life name etc etc

Mine was inspired by the Riddler. His real name is Edward Nygma. The amount of play u can do with this name is astonishing. Mr. E (mystery) or E. Nygma (winner!!) and it all fits the general idea of being an Enigma.

I've stuck with this name since the beginning of time (or when the internet was created, whatever came first) and have sort of claimed it as my online persona.

I do extensive linguistic prototype studies to find the optimal name from a marketing standpoint. I like simple names that express subtle power and trust in order to reach my target demographic.
