How do you name your characters/account names?

It was a nick name. When I was in junior high my friends would call me "Flecha" because I was/am skinny as hell. It means "arrow."

"Meteora" was originally one of my sister's favourite nicks and she named her cat after it. And since my secondary character was a mithra, I thought it'd be neat to pay a little tribute. I use that all the time now.

Geno is from Mario RPG. People always ask me if its from that, which I figure is a good indicator that the character is cool enough to like the name, but also easily forgettable to keep in unique. I was pretty lame when I first started FFXI so in retrospect, I'm really glad Geno wasn't taken; I'm sure I could have gone with something much worse.

Prior to FFXI when I played Counter Strike, I used a name I straight up stole from Starcraft. I saw some guy with a sick record in a channel with the name PuLLTheTriGGa and I just thought it was too cool. So when I stopped playing SC, I stole it, formatting and all for use in Counter Strike and my adventures up to FFXI (I knew it wouldn't work for ffxi without the formatting though!).

Nowadays, I still generally use Geno. But I've always been a little obsessed with cool names so I often try out different names for other games anyways. Some times I go with FFXI things, like benediction or dhalmel (you know its awesome!), or some times I go with words seemingly random out of the dictionary that I think sound cool like stratus or catalyst. Hell I think my ebay account name is rigwarl, the name of bristleback from dota, lol. I've taken names from books too, yrth and suth from The Riddlemaster (I used to play dota with these usually). I don't stick with most of these long though and I usually just end up back at geno because its what a lot of people know me by.

Used to draw comics as a kid. Made some dude up/ was playing CvS2 and the "Kaiser" from Rugal's moves just stuck. Thought "Now to make him cool sounding" and just tacked on Insane at the end

Then after playing FFXI with Veyron and a few folks, it got cut down to Kai, Kais, or Insane, and Kais just stuck

Couldn't get anything that sounded good out of FFXI's random name generator, so I googled up lists of names and browsed through more or less randomly till I found one I liked.

I don't really like it or hate it, nor am particularly attached to it, but since I suck at coming up with names (and I'm picky), I usually just go back to this after like 20 minutes of trying to come up with something better and failing. Tried a few others in other games before, but none of them have been any better than this, so I keep it as a default.

First FFXI character was named Shinryuu (after the FFV boss) and I really liked that name. Played Red Alert 2 a lot, my handle was called Sekaix (no clue why) and when I moved to Remora Shinryuu was taken, so I went to name myself Sekaix. I didn't pick Nhahagolah (real Nhaha did), but I did decide on bardmule's name together with real Nhaha: Cuivienen, after a lake in Tolkien's world.

Played a lot of Dawn of War too and I named myself Deadwing there, after the best song ever made. It's probably what I call myself in FFXIV if I go to play it.

On GameFAQs forums I called myself FingerGauntlet, no idea whatsoever why, and everyone in game calls me FG now. I don't actually use FingerGauntlet for anything besides GFAQs.

As for me,
I use similar archetypes/hair color/gender as well as names from the trilogy I am writing. It's easy when you write about pointy-eared elf like creatures...yea I know I'm a geek.

It's a male human warrior. I was going for a warrior-esque name but even a retarded name or something would work.

Was going to name it something to do with sparta but the name I liked started with the letter "A" and it's just too common. Names 3-6 lettes are the only ones that work for me. One day, one of my characters will be named Ero, but not my warrior I don't think. Current main chars are named Systolic and Pillowfort (its a tank druid lulz)
