My argument is probably the most obvious argument. I was going to write more, but then I didn't but I'll write more if you want. If we're going to call videogames good or bad, subjective enjoyment is by far the most important criteria. I could elaborate if you wanted but we'd both probably stop caring about what I had to say.

I'd probably be more likely to agree that Flower is not a vidcon than I would be to agree that Flower is a bad one.

Okay, well, I don't see anymore claims about me being pretentious here. Have we dropped that? Hopefully.

Anyway, I too dislike "casual" and "hardcore" distinctions. Which is why I kind of say why it is stupid within what you quote.

Notice how I list several layers of casual/hardcore - this is because it is all just a spectrum anyway. Also notice how I am saying casuals and hardcores play the same games. I mean I usually don't bother with the distinction. So when faced with "Well this is just a casual game!" like I was I will deny it like I did. (Though I wonder why you think there is a "Casual" genre... that makes no sense.)

Later on, you changed your stance and accepted that "Flower" is a game.

No stances were changed. Flower always was a (shitty) videogame.

I guess the "non-game" would be confusing. What I mean(throughout the whole thing) is that it's barely a game. It was more of an insult/exaggeration(though only by a little) rather than an actual category. I think I called Flower a (shitty) game before that anyway. Consider it complimentary with "non-gamer." EVERYONE plays games, even if they don't know it so it isn't meant to be literal.

Where? I don't see that at all. The terms are being frequently used, but you never denounced them.

Not outright("kind of".) But what I said was that 1) They are not definitive(a spectrum), 2) They play the same games / same type of games. I didn't think the argument needed yet another layer. The only reason I used either term is because my opponents did and I wanted them to understand me on some level. What it came down to was that I was saying you can't justify Flower because of "casuals." There is no distinction.

Alright, I guess a "casual genre" doesn't exist. That is your point right? Or no? Not making any sense to me. I also don't see the pretension you are pointing out.


EDIT: The foundation of the industry is built on people who play/love games(the hobbyist.) A lot of them might be crappy at actually playing the games though.
