My personal favorite anime and imo, one of the best of all times. 1.0 You are (Not) Alone was actually very well done as a sort of compilation to the episodes it included. Very few books, movies, animes, or anything have ever made me sit down and rethink my entire opinion of the human race or how we behave without even noticing. I honestly think the actual robot fighting part was just thrown in as "breaks" in between his visual description of his personal thoughts through Shinji. Although, one of the most memorable scenes ever will always be the Berserk EVA 02 going absolutly apeshit on Zeruel and eating its S² engine. I remember watching that with my jaw slightly dropped.

Probably a common said thing, but Evangelion is the most overrated anime ever, aside from DBZ. Yes I know the characters are imperfect and supposed to be human, but that doesn't change any of them from being annoying pieces of shit. "But that's the whole point!" Fuck that. Shinji is my #1 most hated character of all time in any media, and Asuka is #2, followed by the French coward in Saving Private Ryan who gets everyone killed at the end.

The people go on and on AND ON about the symbolism in the show. Sure I like movies with deep plots and require you to think. Sure symbolism is enjoyable to a certain degree. When the entire show revolves around it though, and then ends it the way it does? My ex gf defended the final episode stating it was extremely Freudian and all this other stuff. Fine, I will listen to your opinion. Does that change the fact that it was shit and they ran out of funding so made the worst ending to a series ever?

The You Are Not Alone movie is far better than the series, and takes out most of the stuff I disliked about the series. They're just taking way too long to bring them out.

I'm not trolling, this is just my opinion, so feel free to trash me all you want. There are probably an equal amount of lovers/haters of this series. There are far better animes out there than this. I'll even take Code Geass's ending (I don't think it is nearly as train wreck as people think it is) over Eva's.

All in all the movie series I think when all said and done will be good, but the series for me, I will never watch again.

if Rei was male, he'd be the awesomely silent/cool/calm guy.
When he rushes that angel with an N2 mine under his arm sacrificing his life ... that is the scene where MANLY TEARS flow for A MAN'S WAY OF LIFE AND DEATH.
Asuka, if a man, would be an awesomely HOT BLOODED pilot. And pervy with his advances on Shinji, but a little tsundere.
And Shinji, as a weak little girl, as a girl, puts it into context. You'd be fapping furiously to Shinjiko every night because of her shy demeanour
And with girl Kaworu, Shinji x Kaworu would be amazingly hot.

Anyway, Asuka is the downfall of the series, it sickens me how many people actually likes her, she's like a fucking catalyst of all Shinji's emo bullshit, and probably the biggest reason why Shinji is a such a faggot by the end of the series, and that's saying alot with Kaworu being in the same series.
