    It's American.

Anyways on topic, CT I guess is same sea food the rest of New England eats I guess? New Haven, where I live, is pretty much defined by its ethnic foods, has perhaps the best variety of ethnic food(real chinese, malaysian, ethiopian, etc) i've seen in a city its size. And the specific part of CT I'm in right now the local cuisine is based largely on Keystone Ice and Chicken Wings + Pizza.

In Istanbul, key is to eat the stuff at the right place. Every food is associated with a town/region. Let's start off with the national spirit.

    Raki:
    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...nbul/raki1.jpg

It is traditionally consumed mixed with water; the dilution causes this alcoholic drink to turn a milky-white colour, and possibly because of its colour, this mixture is popularly called aslan sütü (or arslan sütü), literally meaning "lion's milk" (a(r)slan is also used to mean strong, brave man, hence milk for the brave).
Many people prefer mezze's and Raki at Bosphorus, but Taksim area/Flower Passage is much better for that.

    Flower Passage:

    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...nbul/sokak.jpg

    Turkish Coffee:
    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...ish_coffee.jpg

Its quite hard to do this right, so...home, I guess. lol

    Kanlica Yogurt:

    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...ea53f4ea_o.jpg

And awesome yogurt with powder. Its ONLY made at Kanlica region, so you'll have to go there. Any cafe around the region does it quite well.

    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...anlicatown.jpg

    Cay and Simit:

    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...ayandSimit.jpg

    A simple circular bread with sesame seeds, unofficial national snack! You have to eat this with Cay(tea), though. Especially awesome at;

Gulhane Parks near Topkapi Palace. There are bunch of state owned tea/simit cafe's near topkapi palace, you can basically buy a tea for 20 cents and enjoy the view all day. Quite breezy at times though.
AVOID the restaurant in Topkapi Palace though, its pretty bad and retardedly expensive. (Unless you are planning to steal the Spoonmaker's Diamond, then you can easily afford it)

    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...api_palace.jpg

Inside Dolmabahce Palace museum(its state owned, so you can buy a tea for a dollar and sit in the palace garden as long as you want!)

    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...alace_Gate.jpg

    ANY cafe in Ortakoy:

    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...ul/ortakoy.jpg

and on old-fashioned 20 cent boat rides(not the new ones though, they are meh).

    Manti:

A type of dumpling in Turkish and various Central Asian and Caucasian cuisines, closely related to the east Asian baozi and mandu. Manti dumplings consist of a spiced meat mixture, usually lamb or ground beef, in a dough wrapper. It is either boiled or steamed. The word is used only in plural, referring to the collection of dumplings on a plate or in a pot.

This ones tough...more of an home food I guess.

    Alinazik:

    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12.../ali-nazik.jpg

    Kaniyarik: (means "slit-belly" -_-)

    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...arni_yarik.jpg

dish consisting of an eggplant stuffed with a mix of sautéed chopped onions, garlic, black pepper, tomatoes, parsley and ground meat.

Its quite easy to make, so even home-made ones are awesome.

    Lokum: (Turkish Delight)

    http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...nbul/lokum.jpg

Best at spice bazaar, buy from there and bring it home.

Are you judging it based solely on the shit in the jars? Because that is nasty. You need to have an old yiddish grandmother grind up some fresh pike/carp and make it herself, it is fucking amazing if its made the right way.

Speaking of Massachusetts, when I was staying in Chatam for a while on the Cape, pretty much every restaurant or food joint specialized in some form of Cod.
