raw octopus. you can get them at lots of seafood restaurants (no idea on stateside availability though; I never had Korean joints where I'm from).

it was still wiggling... you could poke it and it would start moving again, even half an hour later. very tasty, and surprisingly fun to eat. it's a very fresh taste; not very salty/seafoody at all really.

Oh god yes, Neese's and Dukes is fucking amazing.

It's something the yankees will never understand. At a certain point you stop counting calories and let your taste buds take over. And that point is when Duke's mayo or Neese's sausage is involved.

Also Beckwin, I've never heard of octopus served raw in the states. Same with eel.

Omfg yes. I just was there in town few months ago and on the first day there I went straight to the one on Alameda and ordered for me and my sis. I can't visit El Paso and not come here. It's tradition for me.

Wow, I'm surprised at all of the WNY people here. Everytime I thought of something delicious someone had already mentioned it. I do feel better about having never been to Anchor Bar though, since I've had a few people ask me how their wings are when they hear I'm from here.

I think my favorite would have to be the Chiavetta's chicken, seriously I think anyone who hasn't had it should make sure to try it this summer. Marinate chicken overnight and grill it the next day, I actually have some in the fridge right now for dinner tomorrow lol.

As for Kentucky Greg's, I used to get take out all the time when I worked down the street from them. I never had a problem since I couldn't resist their texas toast and coleslaw instead of the fries.

Leaving Monday morning to drive from Raleigh NC to Dallas TX. Somebody tell me the best places to stop for food along I-20 please! (I love creole.. while unfortunately I can't stop in Naw'lins, a good place in the north LA for creole would be awesome.)

Also, once in Dallas, I'll be looking for great restaurants and nightclubs! Help PLZ!

Semi necroish bump but I just got back from Istanbul so I fugure'd I'd say what the food was like. EVERYTHING Mayareira suggested tasted fucking lovely, the manti with cacik sauce was omgwtfkillmytastbudsnowtheyarealreadyinheaven good. Had some fresh fish caught from the bosphorus for lunch yesterday and it was really good, grilled to perfection. Then last night went on a cruise down the bosphorus and had some fresh sea bass that was a fucking delight. I've been about a fair bit but so far Istanbul is one of my top food destinations I've ever been too, the only thing that's even come close to some of the things I had there was a Rabbit caserole in a 3 beer sauce that I had in Bruge a couple of years ago. Once again thanks for the head's up Mayareira, all your tips where most appriecated + the hagia sophia was one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in my life.

Burgerville is supposed to be the end all but In N Out and Five Guys both blow it out of the water.

Hehe, lucky you! I wish I didn't have to take summer classes I miss Bosphorus-_- Manti is pretty much my favorite food as well, I could probably eat up to 3 servings at one go :D

Hagia Sophia and Hagia Irene(small church near Sophia) are masterpieces indeed. Hard to believe how they built that thing 1500 years ago.

Well, I live in Peru (am I the only one in these boards?), our local food... well....

Ceviche: raw fish "cooked" with lemon for a few minutes, then mixed with onions and served with a sweet potato (I dont know if its the right term for it) and corn; its great.

Papa a la huancayina: white potatoes with a spicy-"aji"-based sauce served with an egg, its mainly a side dish or first dish (I cant remember the proper word!)

And we have very few Japanese restaurants but they combine traditional Japanese cooking with peruvian cooking, its awesome, no words on how to explain it. Also, having very good fish helps

Glad to see so many people frequent KG's. There was a nice article in the business section about Chiavetta's BBQ chicken in the Sunday paper.

I love summertime here in Buffalo...so many churches, schools, VFWs, fire halls, etc have Chiavetta's bbq cookouts. I make sure to get my fill.

As for making the chicken myself...chicken drumsticks and thighs are ridiculous cheap at Wegmans...I buy a whole pack with the skin on and marinate overnight and throw it on the grill on medium/medium high.

god damnit that was stupid. now I want a hot dog, a reuben, a slice of pizza, some steak, and a taco. not sure where the taco came from.

I'd want sushi too but most of the places around here are either too expensive or low-quality. sometimes, both (I'm looking at you, Sushi Tango - your sushi isn't bad, but it certainly isn't worth the price you charge).

I've heard the Fujiya around here (I wonder if it's any relation? probably not) is pretty good though, I should try it soon.
