The other night I brought up Pork Roll in LS chat and only one other person knew what it was, someone looked it up and said its only common to areas around NJ so...I guess thats my local food. I probably eat it 3-4 times a week and will die before I'm 50.

Pork roll is a type of sausage-like meat product commonly available in and around New Jersey. In North Jersey it is usually called Taylor Ham.[1] The product was originally developed late in the 19th century by John Taylor of Trenton, New Jersey, though several firms produce it today.

Although the product is widely consumed and enjoyed, it resists accurate description. Some people compare the taste and/or texture to SPAM, Treet, bologna, mild salami, or US-style Canadian bacon.

Taylor Ham, Egg, & Cheese on a hard roll, or on a bagel?

I usually get it on a bagel with salt/pepper/ketchup. If you order at a diner you get fries too :Q____

    Apparently originated at Rutgers campus.

I can't think of anything really unique to Georgia... but the obvious southeastern stuff would be Chitlins, Pigs Feet, Chicken Gizzards and Livers, and other odd animal parts nobody else would think of eating. Oddly (or not) I don't like any of that. Sweet Potatoes, Corn Bread, Catfish... the normal sounding stuff... I'm fine with though.

If you ever find yourself driving through Utah (or some places of Arizona/Idaho/Nevada), swing by Cafe Rio (CAFE RIO) for possibly the best Tex Mex you'll ever have.

A slightly warm fresh sliced corned beef on rye with deli mustard (or with some chopped liver if you're feeling adventurous), with a knish or some kishke & gravy. Honestly, I could eat kishke/derma 3 times a day, and I don't even know what goes into it lol. I prefer half-sour pickles but that's just me.

Pastrami or brisket in lieu of corned beef is alright too. I never really understood people's fascination with tongue, but then again I don't eat gefilte fish come passover time so I guess I'm weird.

For bagelry (bagel snobbery aside) you can't get better than a shmear of cream cheese and some nova lox, or some smoked sable. Whitefish salad is good too!

I don't think I can bring myself to marry a man who doesn't know his deli.

edit: I suppose a very northern NJ type deli sandwich would be the jewish "sloppy joe", consisting of corned beef, turkey, cole slaw and russian dressing. Been a long time since I've had one :Q___

Apparently not a lot of people outside NJ like malomars and pistachio ice cream, either.
My mother is from NJ and absolutely will not leave without bringing back 2 weeks worth of sloppy joes. She also puts in special requests for when her NJ friends come down. Hell, at my bar mizvah she had catered sloppy joes come down from NJ....to NC
