Kansas City, MO and Gates's Barbeque, can't go wrong with that. Course, I'm in Warrensburg but who cares!

There's a Swiss restaurant downtown here which serves sliced chicken in a sort of mustard / mayo sauce with a bunch of spices on an open face toasted bun. It's hard to describe but it's easily the best lunch I've had.

too ethnic an area, but pan con bistek, cuban sandwich, ceviche, conch fritters, and pork are very popular. A bunch of things in Vicky's Bakery, too.

    Scrapple???
god this. I LOVE scrapple, people not northeast PA or around there are missing out.

i've tried to explain what it is to anybody non PA-lancaster/amishvilleUSA and they just don't understand. One thing that ya gotta try and i'm addicted to is scrapple. There is no specific place i think of off the top of my head in PA, but if you get scrapple, make sure its in lancaster, amish do it right son.

I like this thread. But be more specific guys. I want local travel specialties when i travel, tell me restaurants and shit. As far as philly your obligatory cheesesteak shit, but rogue burger and barclays kobe beef sliders are second to none. I'm serious, you want a burger eat at those places. Also good dog burger in philly is simply amazing.

If you don't get your mexican food from a truck parked in front of the restaurant corresponding to said truck, you're not doing it right.

We're fucking apples. Either that or seafood. Since Washington provides a majority of the country with their apples, it's gotta be apples.

Same with flower seeds too, apparently. Or any kind of seeds for fruits/vegetables/flowers.

Edit: And yeah, roach bus mexican food is ten times better than restaurant mexican food, sorry~

    Middlesbrough, UK. The Parmo.

Typically the food of choice in this area, mainly by late night clubbers staggering their way back home. Its a chicken escalope covered in breadcrumbs, deep fried, covered in cheddar cheese, then topped off with whatever you want. Usually chips, garlic mayo and a pathetic wilted salad.

Haven't had one of these in years but the last one i had was omg. Fish and chips is an obvious one so won't post a pic.

I'm going to Key West in October, any suggestions for foods there?

I live in Iowa, and while the food at the restaurants around here is pretty good, with the exception of a catfish fry-up, we don't really have anything to call our own.

    Unless you count corn.

    So much fucking corn.

there's a great Little Italy, an extensive Jewish area, amazing Sushi places in tourist areas as well as hidden gems, I know a place where to get the best nachos, the best crepes, the best bubble tea, the best burger, the best buffet, the best indian

anything strictly Canadian though would be something bison steak or maple syrup or back bacon I guess, none of which I really care about

    Brussels Belgium:

Fries (French Fries are a bit of a misnomer, actually)

Waffles (of course, the ones from Liege are the most famous, but Belgium is so small that credit can be taken from the whole of the country)

    Behold the Bedfordshire Clanger!

    http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...db9c35970c.jpg

A suet dumpling stuffed with meat at one end with a divider in the middle, so the other end can be stuffed with fruit or jam! It's an entire meal in one pasty! GENIUS!

Seriously though they look pretty grim but my god they are fucking lovely. If you want to cook one (and who wouldn't) here's a recipe

Ayinger is in Germany. Germany wins due to Celebrator.

Columbus doesn't have much, really. The best I can think of is Jeni's Ice Cream. Now, let me tell you, I was raised on Graeter's. I love Graeters. But Jeni's is, well, I hate to admit it, better. The flavors are incredible, from their "standard" Salty Caramel to Thai Chili (coconut and cayenne in a peanut butter ice cream) to Ugandan (it was some African country at least...) Vanilla Bean (best Vanilla I've ever tasted) to pretty much everything else on this list, her ice creams are freaking orgasmic. She sometimes goes a step too far with flavors like Goat Cheese with Roasted Red Cherries, but the fact that she tries these crazy flavors is just awesome.

Buffalo also has a huge Polish contingent so you're likely to find amazing pierogis, desserts and polish sausage (fresh and smoked of course).

Oh, you got Loganberry...but you forgot Chiavetta's bbq marinade! People sell this stuff on Ebay to Western NYer's who left the area.

Edit x 5: And you forgot Souvlaki lol.

    Chicken or Steak

    And Sahlen's hotdogs as well.

edit: I'll represent Rochester, NY as well since I lived there for 20 years.

    Garbage Plates anyone?

I don't know if that really qualifies as something we're famous for though?

True I guess. They're famous with me.

If I ever come to Pittsburgh I definitely want to check out a Primanti's.

They pimp that shit all the time on Food Network.

Buffalo is only a 4 hr drive, I dunno why I haven't been down to visit yet. I always try to convince my friends to come down to Punxatawny PA for groundhog's day and they always blow me off.
