Orlando Florida prides itself on being a Tourist mecca. With that in mind, we really hold a very eclectic set of tastes, and no particular style of food defines us other than cheap, crowded, and varied.

Still, one local franchise that we have here is a freaking awesome Mexican place called Tijuana Flats. They have pretty standard tortilla-type fare, and they feature a hotsauce bar that has about a dozen different kinds of hot sauce. They also have a beer selection and have about a dozen locations in our area.

    really, really good stuff.

It feels like a cop-out answer but duffs is my favorite wings when going out for them. For ordering out...well practically every local pizza joint gets supplies from the same 3 chicken wing makers in WNY so they're all pretty damn good.

I didn't know about Chivaettas, we have so many "WNY originals" it's hard to have any idea what they are.

Sahlens reminded me though, I don't remember which, but WNY invented a specific type of hot-dog. I probably eat it once a week at Teds without thinking about it, hah.

Polish food though...we have tons of, my Grandma used to make homeade perogies all the time. And Kilbasa is still a staple of family meals(and we're not even Polish, so that's saying something). I'm not sure what if any are WNY originals though.

    So much food @.@

WNY also has one of the world's largest food festivals(and afaik largest in the US). The taste of Buffalo.

There's a place near where I live that has placed in the top 5 in Texas for the past 10 years or so for the best hamburger in Texas.

Also, being from the south Tex-Mex. If you've not had mexican food in the south, you don't know what you are missing.

A little off the OP, but kind of on it, how many people on here know what sweet tea is? When I went to Denver a few years ago with school, my friends would order sweet tea and the waiters would look at them like they are crazy.

Anyone from NYC have any recommendations for me to go? I'm here for the summer working at Reuters and I want to eat at the real places in NYC. Preferrably places that are on the cheaper side but im willing to work a little. I work in times square so im right in the middle of the city so nowhere is really too far since I can just take the trains.

As far as good likes and dislikes, I'm open to almost anything. I can't eat fish very easily though, and I really dislike all the middle eastern food I've had, so I'm just not sure I like it very much.

I am so glad that they started bottling sweet tea. (Arizona tea, Nestea, etc.) That used to piss me off that everywhere i go had fucking lemon in the iced tea. I don't want any fucking lemon. Brew tea, add some sugar, profit. It's not that hard.

It also cracks me up that Snapple says that they found better stuff by using sugar instead of corn syrup. They just now discovered sugar?

They've also started using green and black tea leaves.

Don't feel bad about liking Duffs. I know alot of Buffalo locals that cite Duff's as their favorite. They're good wings, I just don't subscribe to their saucing method. But it's probably the best tasting authentic wing in Buffalo.

I don't know what WNY invented in terms of hot dogs...maybe the natural casing idea? Ted's is freaking amazing. Love their hot sauce.

We're also home to Mighty Taco =)

I think there is a taste of Chicago and I'm guessing since it's a bigger city that it's probably bigger than ours. Who knows though.

edit again: BTW, I didn't learn to dip my pizza in blue cheese dressing until I moved to Buffalo. Freaking awesome.

I honestly can't think of any particular food that defines my area. We have such a huge mix of everything here. The one thing that does come here that is beyond amazing is the Rib Cookoff. I look forward to it every year.

So famous they put them in the new baseball stadium so white people from the suburbs wouldn't be afraid to go downtown and buy them. So famous Barrack Obama goes there for photo ops.

But yeah, thank god for Maryland...lol.

I love Dinosaur BBQ...but really it was born in Syracuase NY. =)

I've been to the Rochester and Syracuse locations, but not the newest one in NYC (Harlem I think).

Should also note that DC (well, Arlington, right across the river- DC for honkeys) is the home of Five Guys.

Texas - BBQ most of all. One thing i've found more around East Texas, Kolaches! OMFG Kolaches...

There's a great Tamale place down the street that I spend way too much money at also.

From growing up in Michigan, the biggest thing I remember is Pasties:

And of course, Fudge, specifically Mackinac Island Fudge. Oh, and Cherries; gotta love Michigan Cherries.

scanned the whole thread and no one from MN posted this unless I missed it:

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...cyLucyNewt.JPG

the jucy lucy (yes I spelled that right), a hamburger with the cheese sealed in and fried. I've never had one but will be taking my first bite this friday actually.

there's a lot of other local stuff but that's one of the biggest. and fuck all the ignorant haters who think everybody here eats lutefisk, that just ain't true. never tried the stuff, doubt I will. something about fish cooked in soap doesn't sound good to me.

Bar Bill is pretty good, I work about 5 minutes away from there. Their Beef on Weck is better than their wings. Their 'hot' sauce it too hot without any flavor. Not really a fan.

I prefer Mammozer's just south of the intersection of South Buffalo Street and East Main Street in Hamburg NY. The wings are more 'spicy' than hot, and are really crispy, instead of saucy. They pretty much grill their wings after they deep fry them. The 'BBQ Hot' is awesome as well. It's pretty much just a bar with a little restaurant attached to the side. They sell insanely good bar style food, besides the wings.

Duff's has some good wings too, if you are into really saucy wings. The problem though is because of the quantity of sauce they use, they sometimes upset my stomach if I get suicidal. I'll usually just stick to hot there. The woman and I will go there and split a roast beef sandwich and a double of wings and take the leftovers home. They reheat really well in the oven.

Really? I think their hot sauce is very flavorful. Very interesting observation.

    Where do you work?

On east coast sweet tea stops at VA as far as I know, maaayybee WV, any more north and you get that retarded expression like you just ordered a microwaved baby.

Well, it has flavor, but I always felt their "hot to flavor" ratio was a little off. I've been there many times. When I can't touch the wings to my lips when I eat them (because they will end up peeling later that evening) that is about the limit to how hot I want my wings.

As for where I work, after you go to Bar Bill sometime, head north up Seneca Street, look for the silver water tower on your right. You can't miss it.
