I love all the WNYers taking over the thread lol, GF is happy about that. But I'm from further upstate originally and around the glens falls area dirt dogs with the works from new way lunch are the premier food for any occasion. They had a famous commercial parody of the grey poupon out of the window of a limo that is just plain classic. The reviews speak to the legend, one dude had 10 dozen fedexed to his wedding in florida, pretty sure they ship on a regular basis. I salivate over them, and make sure to visit every time I'm home.

another review, and now I'm so damn hungry for these things:

The only 'issue' i have with that place is if you get any of the fries, you have to eat them dine in, because the rich delicious pork sandwhich next to them in the container will make the fries soggy by the time I get the damn thing home to eat.

I'm glad the WNYers are taking over this thread. My parents moved to just outside of Syracuse a couple of years ago, and this is giving me all kinds of ideas of where to eat when I go and visit them.

Anyone in Buffalo ever go to Burrito Bay and eat a Glutton? Good stuff, especially the steak and rice one. I hear it is comparable to Moe's.

Quite a few from the NJ area.

I'm from South Jersey too.. and JerseyProphet you couldn't be more right about the fact that we're essentially different states than North Jersey.

But.. I must stress the pizza down here too. It doesn't get enough looks.

I second Lorenzo's on South Street in Philly (it's not as good as it used to be.. but it's still good and it's just as huge) and Mack's in Wildwood and Mack and Manko's in Ocean City.

(And of course there's the cheese steaks in Philly.. though personally. I think Geno's and such are over rated. I work in Philly and that's always the first place people ask me about. I send them to other local places that are much better.. and much cheaper.)

This ^^^ I've never figured out the fascination with Geno's and Pat's, there are plenty of better spots to grab a steak. Hell the lunch carts in many places make better steaks.

The only thing I can think of that actually originated in Los Angeles is this:

Cole's vs. Philippe. Both are downtown and both claim to have invented the dip sandwich but Philippe is way better.

Oh man, i didn't think it was possible, but the few pgh people that posted have made me actually miss that city. Primanti's, cheese fries, fried wings... seriously, i've gotten crazy looks from people all over the country for asking for nacho cheese on my fries.
Welcome to Pittsburgh, we hope you enjoy cheese on everything!

Yeah, the same thing happens to their deep fried banana peppers. I never get takeout from KG's unless it's the gumbo and rice.

Wow, lots of WNYers poking their heads in here. This is awesome. I live 5 min away from KG's.

Pa amb tomàquet (literally bread with tomato), also has olive oil and salt on it. Catalunya, Spain.
Simple, quick and tasty. Many different garnishes usually accompany it (cheese, cured ham, etc).

Gratin dauphinois. Dauphiné, France. (I've some french family and sometimes enjoy cooking this, which I learnt from them.)
Sliced potatoes baked with a milk and cheese based cream.

    http://files.llima.net/upload/randompics/5.jpg

Panades (the round ones, usually filled with meat) and cocarrois (the longer ones, usually stuffed with vegetables). Balearic Islands, Spain. (I also have some family in there.)
They can be easily be found in bakeries over there, really handy for day trips.

    http://files.llima.net/upload/random...-cocarrois.jpg

Gató, an almond based cake. The name comes from the french word for cake, gâteau. Balearic Islands, Spain.

    http://files.llima.net/upload/randompics/gato.jpg

And the tourist's well known dessert, the ensaïmada. Also from Balearic Islands.
    Spoiler: show
Commonly believed to be modelled from a cow's shit.

That is NOT how the fuck you make blue claw son. Not at fuckin all.

And before we argue - this is my kitchen from the last party we had for my kid. I hand cleaned and cooked every one...

    http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/100_0406.jpg

....and did I mention CAUGHT them too? I have 4 commercial pots tied off to my home-made dock in my backyard, and those were set up daily for a week straight. I live off an inlet from the bay. Brackish water, but the crabbin's good. You learn to accept the green head fly bites.

    http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMAG4616.jpg

That's me, and about 20 feet from my back door.

Crabs are serious biz to me - and that is NOT how you cook them whatsoever.

Damn it I wanna say how I do, but it really is a family recipe - and the only one we have >< I'll give one major hint. You put them in a cooler with ice. They fall asleep, and you clean them BEFOREEEEEEEE You cook them. The recipe is more than smothering them in old bay.

Sir thats like saying a good steak is done by smothering it with A1. Kills the flavor. There is a proper method of cookin crabs and I...cant fucking say mine.

Sorry. I take my crabs seriously. It's all I do when I'm not workin.

    lol yes, yes they are.

I know a taxidermist that does game fish, and yup, crabs too. I'm waiting to catch that perfect, freakishly big (and Ive seen them - big as a phone book) blue out of my traps or lines. I'll get it mounted for the living room.

Fuck it, I live alone. If a girl's creeped out by a mounted crab on the shelf than she aint for me. <3

...I guess I'm NM Crab camping? I'm gonna go smoke and check my traps now actually. I know it isnt truely season yet, but Ive already tossed a few stragglers just coming out of the mud already and my big guy's out there.
