I've only gotten like 3 melee ribbons at around 58 hours of gameplay. I knife when I can, but I rarely do it 4 or more times per round. I usually do it to recons camping in the bushes or mountains as a big "fuck you, I don't waste bullets on trash" to them.

i think my best knifes have been running around a corner someone is hiding behind and getting around to their back for a knife, shits priceless.

also i have 123 knifes now at 27, i wish i had more time to play tho, i still suck in the jet and cant get more then a few kills, or they bail when they get disabled, and cant get the air warfare ribbon lol

I think I did decently earlier trying to knife people. There were a few rounds where I was able to walk behind a group and get a few of them. I got found out mostly from my teammates shooting at the guys I was about to get, which has become a new annoyance to me, especially if I'm obviously going for the knife kill.

So I unlocked the AN-94 yesterday and have got my first service star with it, but I can't really decide if the gun is actually decent once I get more skill with it, or if it's just terrible. The two-shot burst doesn't work like it "should" based on the mechanics of the real weapon as the second shot always goes high from recoil (real AN-94 Abakan has a two-shot burst that fires the second shot so quickly after the first that there's no recoil and should hit very, very close to the first shot). I can see why this might be changed for balance reasons, but it doesn't help that the full-auto has pretty shitty RPM and crazy recoil, even with the laser sight and foregrip.

Anyone else unlock the AN-94 and have any thoughts or tips?

Yesterday we posted news that Electronic Arts was stat-wiping (and even banning) “cheaters” who took advantage of a stat-boosting exploit found in Battlefield 3, seemingly a short-term solution until they whip up a patch.

But today we learned that users of EA’s forum are getting banned from the forums and the Origin service itself for what’s deemed as being naughty. According to a post on Rock Paper Shotgun, users are getting shut out Origin and are unable to play games they’ve paid for because of some overzealous moderation. One user was banned because he discussed “teabagging” his fallen foes, while another, a gamer named James, was banned for using the words “e-peen.” Here’s the details on that one from the RPS post:

“He has been permanently banned for using the word ‘e-peen.’ (For those unfamiliar, this is short for ‘electronic penis,’ and tends to be used to suggest someone is egotistically willy-waving.) However, he did not even introduce the word. It was in reply to someone else who’d said it, and responded, ‘Ah, back to the e-peen talk.’ He was originally told this ban would be for 72 hours, but on Saturday received an email informing him that it was now to be a permanent ban from his Origin account, with no further explanation given. It was added that the matter was ‘now closed.’ And, as ever, EA’s live chat and customer support are refusing to help him in any way. He’s also been told that his BF3 characters and levels will be deleted.”

An update to that anecdote reveals that EA did eventually follow-up with James’s inquiries, but still refused to reverse the ban.

This seems slightly absurd to me. As distasteful as it is for someone to talk about teabagging virtual dead people, at the end of the day, this talk is on the forums for the game—not the game itself.

And, may I remind everyone, that this is a game about SHOOTING PEOPLE IN THE FACE UNTIL THEY DIE. Is “teabag” and “e-peen” talk really so far beyond the pale? And should it end up with a total account ban?

This is one reason why no thanks Origin. I can't imagine how pissed I would be to be locked out of all the games that required Origin to play. WTF. At least if you take douchebaggery to high enough levels on Xbox or PS3 and get banned... you can still play your other games. Have any of these silly bans been overturned? Is it crazy Mods or is EA backing this silliness too?

It sucks, nothing to really discuss tbh. Use the AEK-971, F2000, KH2002, or M16A4 (if you want to underslung grenade launcher for Metro). Usual setup I have for all my ARs are Holo (close quarters maps such as Seine's, Metro, Bazaar, etc), ACOG (long range maps), and IRNV (Caspian) coupled with the Foregrip and Suppressor.

If you've played MW2, the KH2002 is basically a FAMAS with stopping power; a single body 3 shot burst at close to mid range will kill anyone instantly. In addition, it has literally no recoil with the suppressor for long range encounters when you swap to single shot mode, making it a complete beast at all ranges.

Even when i see a group of people and i know i will die i have to go for the knife kill.

Best so far was a nice 3 quick knife kill run. Got one guy..ran around the corner and behind his buddy...got him. Ran out and got his other buddy. I did get greedy and tried to knife a 4th guy. He saw me and shot me.

so i just logged into bf3 on my brobox and all my controls/settings have been reset and i got all the messages of unlocking stuff like promo dog tags + stuff as if i just got them..

I also had a corrupted game save about two weeks ago. My single-player game was erased, along with my settings such as soldier, chopper, and jet controls. It didn't erase my online stats, since the game save is stored locally on the hard drive. It wasn't a big deal, but its nice to know I'm not the only one its happened to.

As to the KH2002, it does have recoil, just a very tiny amount, almost unnoticeable with iron sights. With a scope you can notice the recoil more. The suppressor will give extra bullet drop but its still amazing from short to medium range. Also, I had amazing success with the Russian Kobra RDS on it. I hate it for any other gun. I can't confirm the one-trigger kill unless its close enough for all 3 bullets to be a head shot. Its still a great gun, though, and I'm curious if it will be nerfed in the future.

Also, the SG553 is my new toy. I love that gun.

Cheers, thanks for the info. I was really enjoying the AEK, so I'll stick with that I think. Might use the F2000 on Bazaar since best fighting is usually around murder alley.

If they ever do fix the Abakan to remove the hideous second shot recoil in the burst mode it'll be nice to have. Until then I'll just let it gather dust lol

tl;dr: IRNV is getting a nerf of some kind in the near future along with the promised stinger nerf and jet buffs. I'm pretty neutral on the IRNV "nerf"; I'll probably miss it for my Caspian Border bush wookie hunting but that's about it.

There was a guy complaining about the language because he bought a second copy of the game to play with his son. People are fucking stupid.
