Still getting it for PC. Superior controller and all that.
CoD games are fun for what they are. Spawn, people in front of you, fire around every corner, corridor fps. Only so much strategy involved (and I play cod4 competitively). BF games are giant maps, sometimes you will run around for a while before running into any one. Large scale, tons of holy shit moments, though involved on where to cap etc. Not much comparison other than you fire guns in both games.
I agree. I still think Battlefield is more immersive in terms of feeling like you're really in a battle, but yes, cod and battlefield are very different. I was just saying mf perm should give it a try if he's been playing cod. I know it was a welcome change of pace (not improvement) for me.
Hmmm, maybe my computer can still handle this. Definitely going to buy it for sure.

Battlefield 3 Server Information
DICE's Mikael Kalms posted on the EA UK forums today about how servers will work for Battlefield 3. If you are remember how BFBC2 and BF2 servers worked then this should be familiar.
Ranked server providers are back and this is the only way you can run a server, ranked or unranked. In unranked mode server admins have the ability to chose which weapons are unlocked for players, a feature useful for many competitive matches. One feature that was broken in BFBC2 was the ability to for Punkbuster to take player screenshots. Many will be happy to know this has been fixed in BF3.
A full list of all Battlefield 3 ranked server providers is expected in the near future (probably next month).
Update: Couple more posts from Mikael Kalms posted here and here.
RSPs
The game server machines themselves will be run by a number of Ranked Server Provider (RSP) companies. We do not allow other companies to run game servers, or for other people to run game servers from home.
We try to strike a balance where there are game servers available across the globe, while still keeping the number of RSPs at a level where we can offer reasonable support to each individual company. Since we prefer to work with larger hosting companies, and we focus on countries where we have a larger player base, there will not be game servers available in every country on the planet.
The list of RSPs which will run BF3 game servers at launch is not ready yet. Once it is, we will publilalalala widely.
Server administrators
While the RSPs run the physical machines, most if not all will be paid for and administered by the players themselves – individuals, groups of friends, or clans.
A server administrator control some aspects of the play experience – which maps are being played, which people are allowed onto the server, and can also affect the play style through various direct and indirect controls. Generally speaking, servers that are administered by reasonable admins attract players, while servers which have arbitrary rules imposed see less traffic.
Ranked vs Unranked
One of the biggest choices which a server administrator has to make is, whether to run the server in Ranked or Unranked mode.
In Ranked mode, player progression is tracked on EAs master servers. Weapons are unlocked by playing the game. Player progression is also visible on Battlelog. The server administrators will have to abide by the Battlefield Rules of Engagement.
In Unranked mode, player progression is not tracked on the master servers. Server administrators have free reign on such servers – no Battlefield Rules of Engagement to heed. They can control in detail which weapons are available to the players, etc. This mode is suited to playing clan matches, tournaments, or to those players who just like the fairness of everyone having the same range of weapons available to them. http://www.xboxdailynews.com/2011/08...s-no-vehicles/may have already been posted, can't rememberDice has revealed that Battlefield 3′s Team Deathmatch mode will support a maximum of 24 players and will not feature any vehicles.
This won’t be to much of a shock to console owners as all of Battlefield 3′s online modes only allow for 24 players however some modes on PC allow up to 64 players.
Dice confirmed the information to Battlefield3Blog at Gamescom last week saying;
“Team Deathmatch will be focused entirely on tight infantry portions of regular maps, the map is tighter, the gameplay is more focused and intense.”
News like that, along with the unranked servers being able to choose loadouts for a more competitive type of gameplay will hopefully be enough to convince at least some of my cod4 team to pick up the game.

DICE: “We’re considering mod tools”
It’s been disappointing for PC game modders that Battlefield 3 won’t ship with mod tools, because the new Frostbite 2.0 engine is simply too complex for modders to use, not to mention there are tricky licensing issues with third party software used in Frostbite.
But according to DICE’s general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson, DICE has heard the community and their wishes, and said in recent interview with AusGamers,
Troedsson also said that Battlefield 3 is “the biggest thing we’ve ever done”, and that they simply cannot do everything and add all features gamers demand. As he put it, “we have to select what it is we’re going to spend our focus on”.“We have heard the community very loud and clear on this topic — that they want mod tools. We are considering it, back in the studio. The game won’t ship with mod tools, but we have heard it. I’m not saying that we’re going to do it, I’m saying that we are thinking about it.”
Battlefield 2 didn’t ship with mod tools at launch either, the mod tools were released a few months after the game sipped. The tools allowed popular mods to emerge, mods like Point of Existence and Project Reality. Since then, mod support has been limited in Battlefield games.
A previous version of this article mentioned that Battlefield 2 shipped with mod tools. That is incorrect, mod tools for BF2 were released a few months after the game shipped.
