Battlefield 3 will need monster rig to run on ultra settings
DICE community manager Daniel Matros has been answering questions about Battlefield 3 on Twitter. Battlefield fan @bkohn1 asked him whether a rig matching the Battlefield 3 recommended system requirements would run the game on ultra settings. Matros replied to say that “recommended is usually medium.”
So will a top of the range Nvidia GTX580 do the trick? Apparently not. Matros revealed that we’ll need two 580s in SLI to make the most of the Frostbite 2 engine. The minimum system specifications may not be too punishing, but for those who want to see Battlefield 3 at its very best, a hefty upgrade may needed. Battlefield 3 may well be worth the expense. Would you be tempted to upgrade?
I'm not surprised; this is now the new "crysis" of our day.
Yeah, but will it run Battlefield 3 on ultra?
yay I'll get ultra but never run it at ultra

Yeah, no, IGN sucks.
Does anyone know if you can share accounts between pc and xbox.
Well...fuck.
i know info from /v/ is bad most of the times but this perks my ears up a little
guess we will know things for sure come tuesday, when people start posting their frame rates and speeds.OK, here is the post everyone moaning like a Woman on their period ignored.
1920x1200 and a GTX 580 ARE what you'll need to run at maximum.
We even confirmed on twitter when people were asking "What GPU do I need so I know how to run it at E3 specs." A single GTX 580.
The "SLI 580" is a bullshit marketing campaign cooked up from Nvidia and EA due to their partnership with the "Way it's meant to be played" bullshit.
E3, the closed floor multiplayer and single player showcases were all on single 580s. The reason the PAX booths were running SLI was because it was a public showing. We played it safe and decided to overspec the rigs for publicity reasons.
Any mid-range to high range GPU made since 09 will play it fine. If you have a 480, it easily overclocks to beat a stock 580.

Battlefield 3 squad leaders can call in artillery strikes
Artillery strikes were last seen in 2006′s Battlefield 2142, where the Commander could call in an artillery strike anywhere on the map. Since there’s no Commander in Battlefield 3, DICE has instead trickled down many of the Commander features to the regular soldier: the UAV is now available to everyone (if UAV stations return), and there will be an unlockable UAV for the Engineer class.
Not only that, according to DICE’s Karl-Magnus Troedsson at the recent Eurogamer Expo, squad leader will have the ability to call in artillery strikes. This is in addition to the unlockable mortar strike, which is available to everyone playing the Engineer class.
While we were disappointed with the lack of a Commander in Battlefield 3, it’s good to see DICE keep many of the assets and spread them out to the squad level.
trailer was kinda "meh" only cool part was the beginning @ :12 you get a real sense of the scale of war its trying to present. "Tanks, planes, roflcopters"
and trolling CoD is always awesome "above and beyond the call" lol..
BF3 will be amazing, but i would laugh hysterically if it fails, and MW turns out to be a better game(lol). Bobby Kotick would jack off everywhere, even on the times square jumbotron.
MW3 will sell more, but not have better gameplay and scale wise.
yea the choke hold that CoD rehash has on fps market is here to stay. Till people realize hey "its the same damn game with different skins and a 5 hour story mode" and "3 20 dollar map packs" every fucking year.. with no real innovations other than kill streaks.
do you enjoy the game so far ?
are you guys ready. are you fucking ready?
im not i need to upgrade ; ;
