I know I keep on asking this, but I haven't seen the answer. How are we supposed to leave between matches on consoles other than turning it off or dashboarding? Or does leaving during the match count as a loss? That would be boosting losses... No?

The lag on PS3 for jets is absurd. When I was using flares, I'd often have no warning and suddenly be at < 50%. Since I got the fire extinguisher, I've been using that and while I get hit more often, I'm in the air longer since I can usually hit the extinguisher and fly to safety while my plane regens. Also often I'll be banking away from the ground with plenty of room, and lag will kick in and somehow my plane craters. Fairly frustrating.
What do people use for the passive upgrade to the jet? I tried stealth, it didn't seem to work all that great (maybe the lag has something to do with it?), then I tried the belt loading which seems decent. Using the radar now and it's fairly useful for following/finding jets. The proximity scan is useless with how small the normal jet map is. Probably going to switch to beam scanning once I unlock that to see how good it is/isn't.
just another example of fucktarded design flaws that should have been glaringly obvious
wait till the next match starts and quit, it doesn't count towards your quit count
I went and focused on jet points last night, was quite a bitch at first but after getting the hand of it its not too hard to dodge missiles if you just slow down and bank turn. I was using a 360 controller since its what i already had and I found it to be easier than trying to fly with a keyboard. Managed to unlock heat seekers though. Biggest pain in the ass I found was the damn mobile AA gun. There was one game where i couldn't even stay in the air more than 10 seconds before getting shot down. So yeah, today i got in the AA gun, sat in the field right outside deployment and get like 3 or 4 unlocks in one life in 1 round. Pretty OP. If you want to help your fellow pilots, kill the damn AA gun.
Even though I have heat seekers unlocked, I think i'm gonna stay away from jets for a while since they seem more trouble than their worth and they hardly have any influence on the ground game right now.
They have a lot of influence on ground games where people spot tanks.
I wish they'd bring cluster bombs back. That was the most useful part of jets in BF2.
edit: Most of the time I'm shot out of the air it's from ground AA or pilots who are good at leading with the vulcans. I've never been shot down by a missile.
english isn't my mother tongue ... what does "banking" mean?
Yawing, or turning, refers to rotating the plane on the X axis (think of the plane sitting on a rotating platform). When you bank, you rotate the plane on the Y-axis, yawing or not (like on a rotisserie) and pull the pitch of the plane up so that it turns hard in that direction. Banking is the preferred way to outmaneuver other pilots.
When all else fails, do a barrel roll bank. This is what I do when someone has a bead on me - I do a three-quarter roll, and then bank hard in the opposite direction. Most inexperienced pilots will lead in the direction you roll and then lose their mark because you bank and afterburn in the other direction.
Anyone down to play on PC? Origin ID: dead42788
Game is fucking amazing, loving it so far.
Edit: double post
i survived last night with 0% hp. Also, i love the building mechanics where you can blow holes into them. Last night, on Tehran, I saw a building completely collapse with people on the roof. was awesome
wow... people are absolute fucking dickheads... Whatever level that is with the aircraft carrier and the boats coming out of the hull. I tired to spawn in one chopper, but it seems someone was already in it, so i hop out and start to run to the other and I'm guessing he blew it up? wtf.. unless im mistaken?
More like he probably took off and then nosedived into the ground right after lift up because he didn't know how to pilot a chopper. People are definitely assholes though - I remember spawning into a chopper and waiting for a gunner to hop in. Some guy runs up and TKs me to get the heli and promptly gets blown out of the sky seconds later by what I assume were IGLAs.
One thing that makes me sad about choppers. There is no way to avoid AA fire unless its from a bad angle
So, for controls: What do the left and right trigger do for jets? Also, what's the button for holding your breath with a sniper? (Xbox)
