I think you can select medic equipment as a assault class.... or assault equipment as a assault class.

maybe he meant that one person was rocking medic gear, while the others were not?

I don't know much about battlefield (never played BC1/2), but it sounds to me that he's saying (in the later part) that the medic class will take on the role of an smg rusher/supplies person more than a person that heals a person, not that there literally isn't a medic class anymore.

The Medic and Assault classes have been merged. The assault class will have the option of the under slung M79 Launcher or a revive kit.

Old medic is now called Support, which acts as an ammo dispenser ala the assault class from BC1/2, just with LMGs.

Personally, I don't see what the fuss is all about as I'm probably one of the thousands of people that already preordered. It's a preorder bonus that was already explained to not be game breaking, nothing to get their panties in a bunch.
