    Champions Online

Just read the article for this in the new PC Gamer, looks solid.

Anyone in the beta? I applied online at their website, still waiting back to find out if I got accepted.

I never ended up really playing City of Heroes/villians, because my PC was too crappy back when it came out. I definitely would like to get into this early on.

Signed up for beta, haven't gotten an invite. I've always thought the idea of a super heroes MMO was neat but the execution really has to be spot on, I imagine the end game could really suck. But I'd try a beta, and simply keep my eye on it for now.

I never seem to get accepted to betas. Does anyone have tips on ways to better improve your success rate on getting accepted? If I don't get accepted into a XIV beta I'll be very unhappy for sure. SE really should auto-accept players who've been around since 2003.

Anyone preorder this yet? Just wondering if you need to pay the whole thing off up front in order to get into the beta on the 17th or if 5$ is all you have to pay.

I'm in beta, but I only played it once. The character creation is pretty amazing, and the graphics are great... kind of a cel-shaded look. I'm not gonna buy it at release because I'm already looking forward to Aion, but it's something I may look into later on.

First person who asks for it gets my login information and i'll let them know when the next playtest is.

A lot of people were turned off when they announced micro-transactions for this game. I'll admit it turned me off too, I hate the idea of having to pay to get more costume options. That shit is pretty important in a game where your costume is your identity, along with your powers, so it is essentially keeping important content from players who don't pay extra. I mean, I'm already paying a subscription, don't make me pay 5 dollars to get the wings or the little item I want on my character's costume, that's just lame.

If they even have anything that affects game play in the micro-transaction store that will keep me away altogether. I hate the idea that I will be paying for a game but kids with rich parents will have all the stuff I have to work for. That frustrates me just thinking about it, heh.

I'm usually against MT shops, but like you said if it's just costumes... then meh, I don't mind. You can easily make yourself look unique using the default costume library

I hate that too, Sims 3 I think also has some kind of crap like that. But it's super heroes so.. gotta try it.

I think I have to play this game. I've always wanted to be a villain. I mean hero. Shit.

Don't do this, you know exactly what work means in that context.

With Aion coming out, I don't see this game being worth it.

Well just payed it off, and got an aion online beta code for free too. Might not be worth it but I'd like to give it a shot and it comes out almost a full month before Aion so in that month alone, I'll probably get my moneys worth.

    but I don't. (apparently)

Since this is criticism of the game/genre, maybe I should know.

That should be a little more clear I think.

It is not much clearer at all. If I say "the purpose of videogames is getting things you earned?" I am describing work and saying pretty much the same thing. As are you.

But we should know videogames are not work, so someone skipping over the "workload" shouldn't matter. It would only be their loss.
