From POL: Warning Regarding PlayOnline ID and Password Fraud

Is there any way your account could be stolen via phishing with the security token enabled? I am currently unable to login because one of my three passwords is incorrect. I haven't changed either of the static passwords ever so I'm confident I'm typing those correctly. It puzzles me because wouldn't I have been kicked offline if someone had stolen the one time password I logged on with? I was online for two hours and was never kicked off.

edit: apparently rebooting fixed my problem. seems my one time password was out of synch? pretty bizarre...

well, no, thats unlikely, its more likely your keyboard was malfunctioning. since the key isnt stored on your system.

or worse, you had capslock on.

I got on of these messages about 2 AM in the morning while I was sleeping, lol. Seemed a lot more like RMT than GM to begin with anyway. The name was like "Nrhuiasgf" or something(can't remember exactly). And he had REALLY bad grammar, lol.

I just lol'd and went back to bed.

EDIT: I also might add that the tell accused me of selling "gold" in FFXI, I guess they think the currency here is the same as WoW. XD

yah i did check for capslock and the only code i was entering via keyboard was the one time code since i do the SE password from the secure keyboard thingy. i'm going to try playing with my clock when i get home from work to see if maybe the one time code relies on user time instead of a server thing. i left my pc on for 5 days straight so it's possible it was a little behind on time?

Yep that is the scam, see the thread "New Scam To Get Your Account!" If you still have the info you should report it.
