Hey guys, you know how SE won't let you save your SE Account Password in playonline, and you have to type it in every single time?
It's to protect yourself from situations where someone has physical access to your computer and security token (while you are asleep, for example). Don't write down your SE Account Password.
That sucks man. Hopefully SE will help you out.
As for all the typical BG dicks calling bullshit, jesus fucking christ just shut your fucking traps for one god damn day, or take that shit to spam or whatever.
That shit is just getting old and played out. It's not 2004 any more kids.
You are not to blame, man. Someone committed a crime, a felony in fact, against you. You don't need to live your life assuming that someone is going to do that.
I hate when people say stupid shit, like "You should never even write down your own information in your own home because someone might break in, and they might find it, and they might even know what the fuck it is for, then they might steal it, and then SE might not let you get your shit back"
What kind of paranoid world is that? Stupid fucking kids today.
Nah I'm gonna stand by what I said. Haven't you ever had someone you didn't particularly trust in your home? I'm not talking about a break-in.
There are also situations where two roommates hate each other but are stuck for the semester or year (in college), or stuck even longer because they are out in the real world and can't find an alternative living situation.
Now, lets be perfectly clear here. I am not blaming the OP for this incident. It is not the OP's fault. However, there are precautions you can take to help prevent this.
If you get mugged while walking alone in a bad neighborhood at night, it's not your fault, but perhaps you might have been able to prevent it.
Whats your characters name, and what server are they on?
I want to be nosey.
Granted if he's telling the truth, he's not to blame kind of...but if you leave sensitive information like passwords next to your computer in plain sight, you are just asking to get your shit ganked.
You probably won't be able to do shit for the account, but if he stole checks, your ps3, and your son's toys, you can easily get him for that. You could probably get him charged with identity theft for the checks, too.
Of course, this is all an aside to beating the ever-loving shit out of him, over and over again.
I REPEAT DO NOT BEAT THE EVERLURVURINSHIT OUT OF HIM, I WILL BE FORCED TO COME TO YOUR HOME, ARREST YOU, AND CHARGE YOU WITH A CLASS A MISDEMEANOR, YES CLASS A I DONT CARE IF YOU TAP HIM, SCUMBAG!!!
How the fuck would he have known that his own NEPHEW would turn around and sell his account? Its family.
Then again if I had a Mandau and an account that I spent 5 years on, I wouldn't just leave that notebook behind or even write my information around. Your nephew probably saw a golden opportunity to make a lot of money, and he took it. I'm sorry this shit happened... I mean honestly this could've happened to anyone, because I don't think a lot of people suspect their nephews of turning around and stealing their shit, let alone selling it.
Ah well, thanks for the input guys. See you all in the land of the big XIV.
How are you just going to not do anything about this? Have you even tried an attempt at contacting SE to get information at all?
If I were you I'd go steal shit from my nephews house after I was done beating his ass. This shit is just fuckin ridiculous. Seems like it doesn't even bother you.
loligotjackedbutw/eseeyouguysonXIVlol
Sorry to hear what happened to ya, I know what it's like to have your own blood be your worst enemies.
Best of luck if ya decide to continue on ingame, if not see ya when FF14 hits!
Edit: Oh yea, and press charges on his ass for the stolen checks/monies/son's toys, assuming you can prove the theft. I realize it won't do jack squat for your virtual shinies but sob deserves some comeuppance.
If your account was sold like you said, I'm sure you could at least get access back. Its currently being accessed by someone else since you said it got transferred, so I'm sure SE can help you there as long as you have all the info.
One thing u could do really up2 u and all if u did press charges agaist him for thieft, and place the Account that was stolen and sold agaist him and then take the report and email the invistagtion number/report to SE they might, but as super said otherwise this was done in the omofrt of your home and will be hard 2 do anything
Check your chat logs to see if they sold it to someone they spoke to in chat. Look extensively at your browsing history for rmt sites he visited. Make sure there are no key loggers on your computer regardless of who you are certain stole it. Perhaps he got phished and that is how it was stolen.
So anyways:
Account theft is account theft, no matter where it is from. Problem is they get tons of people claiming their "roommate, partner, ect." stole the account after they let them barrow it and things went stale. You need to be sure to tell them about the fact that you did not let the thief barrow it in any way (because that is considered against the rules).
So you have four processes to consider.
Information Regarding Unauthorized Access
1. Proving you are the owner:
See above about letting the rep know you did not loan out your account. Ask them exactly what a person needs to reclaim a stolen account. POL has all of the info btw. To shorten your list of questions and not have to rely on how much training the rep had, read the site and be informed before you call.
2. Closing of the account due to theft:
If you did prove that you are the owner, you have to get the account out of whoever has it's hands. Ask customer service how to get a GM to lock a stolen account, or read POL security info above about how to get one locked. Also: People get really mad when they buy an account and find out it has a token they don't have. They get a little irritated when they lose it due to the reclaiming process so expect backlash if the person is currently playing the account (see 'Cross Server Player Warnings' forum XD). In fact, don't be surprised if they try to get it back again from you more than once.
3. Reclaiming of the account:
If you still have the token and the info and the house sitter did not sell those along with the account, you have to use the reclaiming process to get it back. If you do, the buyer of the account should not be able to disable the token without that info and it would thus, be useless to them.
If it was sold via a game supply site, you can also try contacting them if it is still up being advertised, letting them know they are selling stolen property. I do not know the complete info to give you the steps for the reclaiming process but it is all on the pol site and you can ask in live customer service chat as well.
If the token was taken, you get past the verification and they know you are the owner, perhaps you can get the old token canceled/reissued when the next batch of tokens is made.
4. Securing and cleaning your computer:
Whatever you do, if you get it back, CHECK YOUR COMPUTER FOR KEY LOGGERS BEFORE YOU LOG IN AGAIN.
Well hope this helps somewhat.Sorry I did not have more info!
I suggest you get your computer a good lock and take that token/password book with you when you leave.
Family is the worst, don't be fooled. While I was off at college my freshman/sophomore year my dad opened CC's in my name, racked them up, stopped paying them, he of course used his cell phone and a personal PO box he opened to get the late calls/notices. I had no idea until my personal bank accounts accounts were frozen 5 years later since there was a judgment out against me. Any time I applied for credit and got denied I asked him why he thought it happened and he said because of my school loans. It made sense to my naive ass since I was going to a private school.
