I have all the OP from like a year ago.
What people do is, they quit the game and NPC all their crap to the zone just to make sure they won't come back to the game. It causes your nation to take over these "rare" zones. They smile and quit at the same time

Trade something cheap on AH that sells high to NPC. E.g. NQ Ice Staves

Just be sure to trade just before conquest.
Citation needed? I have heard it's closer to 10M gil.

Oh and BTW yes I would server transfer for this if it was free (or cheap) and the 90 day wait was more like 10 days.

Back when I did this on my server around the inflation era, I used a smithing mule to spam mythril pick synths to turn in to influence conquest. It took somewhere around 200 picks to convert gustaberg to windy control, and about the same for ronfaure for windy. Nowadays this would come out to around 1.5m based on my server's price for mythril ingots + buying elm lumber from wood guilds when the price bottoms out (1723 per lumber). It could be different nowadays since its been over 3 years since I last tried this (no reason to since I got my outposts already), but I wouldn't imagine it costing more than about 2-2.5m at the worst on an average population server.

The amount of influence gained for turning in equipment depends on the NPC sellback price of the equipment, so you want to get as good of a ratio of cost: NPC value as you can for whatever you turn in, some good craftable items include mythril pick, darksteel pick, and NQ elemental staffs (assuming 100+6 woodworker synthing HQs for profit). Also, do this as close to the end of a tally as you can to increase your chance of success, the times I did this I had people try to defend their territory so to speak and trade equipment in an attempt to block my efforts so doing this early into a conquest week just gives people more time to try to block it.

Any idea if your mythril pick adventures were before or after they nerfed the effect granted by trading equipment? There was a patch where they made it more difficult, but as we all know by now it is still completely doable.

Only nerf I know of to this was back in Feb 2004, I did this back in late 2005 when this nerf was in place. I don't think there has been any additional nerfs to this since.

Interesting! I have heard of ls's and alliances setting up take over parties but never the delete account thing. I just figured windy got taken because it had mystery boxes this week and a lot of people wanted to take advantage of those extra caskets.

i actually think it would be more common to see sandy/windy taking over gustaberg lately due to all of the smn burning in korrokola.

    I would expect the same.

KRT parties used to mess up Ronfaure (usually Sandy would hold it, but only a "Major" influence instead of a "Dominant" one).

I need to go look up where Korrokola tunnel is. I have heard of the smn burning there but did not think to associate that with conquest. Makes sense though. I have also seen people de-leveling their level sync characters at the buburimu op for smn burn lately, must be near. Bastok has had Kolshushu for the last two conquests.

my friends and I significantly raised Bastok's influence in Kolshushu yesterday by smn burning for 5hours in the maze. I wouldn't be surprised if people would use this in some outside areas in sartabarta/ronfaure to get some easy influence

Ok, maybe I did exaggerate a little. I did this almost 4 years ago. Our take overs then took >2M in all for each zone but that's only because no one had a clue if it can be done and we started early in the week. Some idiots decided they like to be patriotic and fought against the takeover all week long which increased the cost pretty dramatically.

Old page of mine if you're interested:
    Conquest Basics
Errata: "NPC value/gil" should read "NPC value in gil"

The bunch of us got our OP ports so we never bothered to find out the exact cost of taking over a zone but it shouldn't cost too much. 200k-300k or so should be enough if no one fights against you. A million should be the absolute upper limit. You just have to know what item is good for trading - Note the diminishing returns and upper limits per trade as your nation gains influence. Stop trading once your nation hits "Major" or trade cheaper items to save gil.

Note that it was 2005 for the prices in the page which was at the peak of inflation.

2-3 years ago on bahamut .. those nice people of BG massed together and sold millions of gil worth of stuff (talking staves and what not) to the vendors to have windy control both east ron and gustaberg in one conquest period. Thanks to them I have all my Ops
