Boo at it being shorter. Still no reveal to Andy yet by Sam but after being "smited", Sam certainly has some explaining to do. You can practically hear the endgame of season 2 coming to a head very soon.
Spoiler: show

Was pissed w/ the episode being 45'ish minutes also. I knew they were going to end the episode that way when you saw Bill walking up to meet the Queen, but kept telling myself it wasn't so because ther was still 5-10 more minutes left! Great episode though, thought everything was done very well and Jason was awesome at Merlott's lol, had me laughing pretty hard. Only odd thing was that it seemed like Terry was the only one who could think logically and I kept expecting him to break out of Maryaan's control.
Did anybody else think Bill was going to meet Lorena? Was my initial guess... Though wonder if that's the queen of Louisiana or another state
How does the Vampire heirarchy work? All we've seen so far are two Sheriff's of specific areas. Is there more than one Queen?
Last nights episode was fucking intense. Cant wait for next weeks.
Eversor pretty much has it correct (I think), Each state has a queen or king, who everyone reports to. Bill got brought to the Louisiana Council / magistrate in S1 (that scene was made up for the TV show & not in the books), though Louisiana is overseen by a Queen (assuming that is who Bill went to go see). I am only on book 3, but I don't think there is any real "president" of sorts who oversees everything. It's just broken down by state and each state is essentially independent of each other (unless something drastic happens that involves vampires everywhere)
Much better than last week for sure. Jason is one funny motherfucker.
Iono anything about the books, but this whole zombie thing is just stupid and rather disappointing to me. The other parts have been cool tho :\
Yeah, I'm getting tired of the the mind control on everyone. It was sorta interesting when it was only a few people, but when it happened to everyone, there was kinda no point. I don't see why she is so interested in Sam, 'cause hes not the only shifter Maryanne has met.
And that Jason bit was hilarious. I don't think it would have been as funny without his voice being changed through their perspective, but that was the best thing out of him yet.
The whole Sookie and Eric thing is getting interesting....but everything has been fantasies for her.
Jason annoyed me until the last episode...now he cracks me up.
Someone needs to take care of Maryann she's pissing me off...lol.
Yeah, it's pretty much just by state/territory; there's some conflicts in later books when Katrina hits and other monarchs move in on the weakened state of the Louisiana hierarchy.
Yeah in the books there are Kings/Queens of different states, several are introduced or mentioned, most prominently Louisiana (Sophie-Anne), Mississippi, Nevada.. plus in the books, Eric performs a marriage between two monarchs (not a huge spoiler or anything, I don't think), it doesn't have any impact on things that affect the Shreveport vamps/pack or Bon Temps folks (Bill, Sookie, Jason, etc).
I'm kind of glad that Alan Ball kept the following from the books:
Spoiler: show
Maybe the two most recent books? I can't remember.
Spoiler: show
The author basically removed the fairies from the books in the most recent book, and thank god - it was just too much going on.

Also, I saw on borders that the Southern Vampire Mysteries is coming out in a box set, I think 8 books for $45. I'm thinking of ordering it for my dad and just reading them after he's done.
There is already a box set for the first 7 volumes of the Sookie stackhouse novels. If your just getting into the series its by far the best way to go
