Damn that's a great list. Sadly the only one I don't own is LBPK. That's worth the price of admission shit right there. XCOM is one of my favorite next gen games. So brutal.

Goddamnit, I need to stop buying games on sale that I don't plan to play right away. Just bought XCOM, could've just waited.
God fucking damnit, my poor backlog...., was avoiding XCOM for that reason.
Ending up getting the Last of Us paid for for me for doing some work. I need to invest in a bigger HDD for my PS3![]()
Yup, time to resub. Even more reason since FFXIV ARR is almost 100% sure to give PSN+ beta access late july or early august.
I wasn't sure where else to put it, but it relates to getting games on PSN. Can I upgrade my HDD on fat PS3s? I'm considering upgrading to PSN+ for all the free games but have no room for the games. If I can, can it just be any HDD? Can I just use a USB HDD that I have?
Any general 2.5" SATA drive should work fine.
If you want to back the drive up first, you'll need a FAT32 formatted USB storage hooked up (single-parition, PS3 is unable to discern multiple partitions). Never hurts to delete game-installs and what not to lower the backup size since it includes stuff in your Game Data folder also.
And since you have PS+ already, doesn't hurt to back all your saves up to it.
So I backed up my data on my usb hdd. Now what? Go ahead and delete everything? What happens if I want a single thing off my hdd? I gotta restore everything? What about the new games I buy? Can I back those up without losing my old backup?
sorry I'm bad at computer stuff
Don't need to delete anything. Keep the drive as-is in the offchance the backup is corrupted in some manner (I've had it happen before, had to re-backup). You can have multiple backups, as it'll list them in the restore tool for whatever ones it detects. I just wish the backup tool wasn't ass, as it would have been nice to dictate if you only want to back up saves, game patches, etc.
At this point, you just swap out the old HD with the new one, have the PS3 format the new one to its filesystem, then go to restore the data off your USB external. Since it's the same PS3, everything should restore to it, including copy-protected/DRM'd saves/files.
If the single thing you want off of it is a game save(s), you can just copy that to your PS+ Cloud, or a USB stick.
....sooooooo now I need to buy another HDD? I kinda wanted to just do this with what I have now, since I just bought this 1TB USB HDD.
It has to be an internal 2.5" SATA harddrive. I should have clarified that earlier.![]()
I guess I'll hold off then. No use spending $70 on a HDD for PS3 when PS4 comes out in like 6 months.
is PSN down in NA?
the "isthepsndown" website says it is, but I don't know how reliable that site is
I've found it to be pretty accurate.
PSA: Don't update your PS3s yet. Just happened to me.

After I tried restarting I just get a blank black screen now.
fuuuuck. already installed it.
How long's the warranty on a PS3? I'm tempted to restart it now to see if it breaks mine, but keeping it on until a fix for it comes online and not breaking my ps3 sounds like a good idea.
