Nice catch, and thanks for the heads up. I'm going to be needing to pick an extra one up after I get the new Wii Sports and Gamestop was where I was going to get it. Guess I won't be though <_<
they added extra $5 to wii zapper too, i worked there and called bs when i saw it showing up as such
Good deal, I'll be sure to tell my mother.
Wasn't there another product in recent memory they had done this with? I forget if it was a peripheral or an actual game, but I could swear they did a $5 hike on something. I think it was a DS game, but I can't remember.
Regardless, good catch, that's pretty lame.
Yeah, gamestop is pretty shitty like that. I notice all the time that they hike the price of popular items where the MSRP isn't widely known up 5 bucks.
Pretty much ANY 1st party Nintendo game and accessory is $5 above MSRP at GS![]()
Someone should remind me why I even own stock in this company.
I would have sold it if it didn't lose like 20% of its value the day they announced full xbox360 game downloads ;/
wait... why do you even have Gamestop stock in the first place?
Probably because it was doing really well until the entire market started taking a shit.
fair enough... and I suppose they used to not suck quite as hard as they do now.
Yea my feelings about Gamestop as a company notwithstanding their stock was doing very well until E3. I should have offloaded it before that but oh well, I'm sure it'll go back up eventually unless downloadable games make Gamestop into the next Blockbuster.
Look up Gamestop stock from a few years ago, that shit skyrocketed--which makes sense because they were making money off selling a week old 60$ game that some kid traded for 30$ store credit in and making a 25$+ profit on it selling it used for 55$.
Gamestop would be smart to shy away from downloadable games, because that makes customers unable to return them, that's where they get all their money from.
Gamestop makes nearly all their profits from used games; if shit goes digital they could always start taking old school games on trade again and getting assloads of money from them.
Gamestops entire business model will become obsolete as soon the next wave of consoles hits and everything is downloadable through XboxLive etc. But really its their own damn fault for turning their stores into second hand pawn shops to make a quick buck. I'd sell the stock as soon as you can because the company is probably fucked.
Introducing BG Financial.

$20 Nunchuck + $20 Wii Motion Plus + $40 Wii Remote
Sure is cool spending $80 on a controller.
Same, our store went "wut" like Sundi out of hell when we realized it was happening with the Motion Plus also.
As much as I hate what GameStop has become (I was one of the original EB Games managers), I will say that the company is doing extremely well financially. For the moment (next gen of consoles = osnap) it's one of the few companies that's still growing amazingly enough, even during the harder economic times. But yes, it basically is a 2nd hand pawn shop lol.
