I love the people I work with. Hate the company though.

Does anyone know if the Square games are actually $39.99 MSRP or is that a GameStop thing to charge more?

SE retails them for $40 because they use higher capacity cards

Well they have to charge extra due to development costs for the sequels, spinoffs, action figures, and feature length CGI movies.

Posts like these crack me up. The only reason people get so upset is because we're invested so much in games since we're gamers. I can't imagine someone walking into Sears and saying "What a bunch of greedy bastards, they're selling that stove for $30 more than XXX retailer!"

The sad thing is that this is nothing new, gamestop has been doing this for years. When ps2 first came out extra controllers and memory cards were $5 more than most other places. It's weird because not every store would be $5 more, if there was an EB nearby (before the merger/takeover) then those stores would have the normal price, same case with a Game Crazy being nearby.

It always cracks me up to hear someone talking about a business being greedy anyhow... its a BUSINESS... they're there to make money off of you, not provide a charitable location to pick up cool stuff for a phat discount. shrug.

That happens all the time. It is why most stores have price guarantees now and people actually shop around before buying something.

I'd just like to add that more people should work a retail job for at least a year as either a customer service rep or on floor sales. Cashiers and stock don't count because the worst that will happen is "But I saw a price for X, and it's coming up as Y!" or "That looks broken/abused/used, can you get me another".

I swear all I hear is "Well, that other store has it for 10 cents cheaper, why don't you?" and the best one is "But that store carries this item, why don't you? This totally inconveniences me and you should cater to MY needs!" Ok the last phrase I added, but that's the general stigma customers give off.

I think you underestimate the convenience of buying everything at one store. If GS can pick up an extra $5 on each Motion Plus they sell to some mom who's buying a Wii, Wii Fit, games, controllers etc they're going to be happy and the mom's mostly likely not going to care about driving down the road to save the $5 on it somewhere else.

Is it fair? Not really, but there is a point where shopping around for the best deal isn't the most effective for your time, money, etc. I don't know about you but I feel my time is worth more than the small amount of money I'd potentially save by having to stop at multiple places. I'm obviously not talking about shopping around for the best deal on an appliance or anything but I never understood the retards who drive across town to save 5 cents on something like their gas when it's costing them more in wear and tear, time, and gas to get there for the "savings".

I agree with you, but I think the reason most non-gamers end up buying things at gamestop for higher prices is simply because they don't know any better, not because of the convenience.

Honestly for me the era of in-store game shopping is over. Amazon has such great deals most of the time and you can just buy hard to find stuff on ebay or even gamestop's own website (which sucks for an entirely different reason, but the option is there). It's a much simpler matter to hunt around for the best price if you can just do it online and have it sent to you.

most places have gotten rid of or toned down their price matching policies. also shopping around is way down as well, and while the internet savvy buy things online, the majority of families dont.

I totally agree with you I was just responding to your first post in which you found posts like that funny. I think in every type of store there will be the well informed shopper who knows what they are buying and why they are buying it and shop around for the best price of it. I don't think those types of posts are out of the norm. On the flip side in every store you will also find the chumps who don't know the first thing about what they are buying or why they are buying it and do not take any time to shop around or research. Those are the people that are targeted by that type of thing.
