Again, plenty of confusion in here too.
He's...not proposing a "socialized health care" system really. Comparisons to Britian's system or Canada's system (which I've also already done in this thread) are a fool's errand, that's not what we're looking at for better or for worse.
The entire insurance industry is a scam, the way it works is totally retarded. Health insurance home insurance auto insurance; it is the only business in the world that can get away with the idea that you pay for a service that you cannot use and if you do need to use it you get penalized.
This quite honestly is the biggest and main reason why I do not take anything the GOP says seriously. I do find myself agreeing with other aspects of the party sometimes but every time I find myself starting to agree with them they say something stupid to pander to their Religious base and it snaps me back to reality and I sit back and go lolGOP.
I'd really like to visit these fantasy countries that conservatives seem to have in mind when socialized medicine comes up. You know, the Canada where it's quite literally illegal to get emergency treatment before you die, because the government has mandatory waits of a month for gunshot wounds, three years for liver transplants, etc. The Canada where there's a graveyard next to every hospital to bury the hundreds of people who die every day in the waiting room, with a sign over the gate that reads "R.I.P. victims of socialism". The Canada where you try to get a physical exam for your son so he can play football in high school, but by the time your appointment arrives, he's 34 and married with kids (delivered at home obviously, because you have to book the hospital for a delivery while the mother is still in pre-school).
As for discussions with people who live in evil socialist countries... after reading your post, I asked a Canadian friend what the wait would be like for a broken arm. 2-6 hours, depending on how busy the trauma docs were that day treating people who have more serious problems. Gee, that sounds pretty similar to a busy US hospital waiting room, doesn't it?
As Day said, the cost argument is also complete bullshit. US hospitals can't deny life-saving treatment, which (I think?) we all agree is a necessity of civilization. As a result of that and the massive number of uninsured people, there are huuuuge hospital tabs ran up every day by people who simply will never be able to pay them. You know who ends up paying? Everyone who has insurance, because the hospitals raise prices on the people who CAN pay to pay for the people who CAN'T. There's actually more bureaucracy in our private system than "evil socialized medicine" because not only are there a half dozen entities between you and your doctor, they're profit-seeking entities that pad the costs at each step to maintain their bottom line.
Is that a John Q reference?
It would seem I derailed my own thread... My biggest concern to all of this, is the way he's going about telling the lazy masses. I reiterate, when was the last time any news program was anchored from the White House? And then to leave out opposing views, just baffles me.
I do believe our system for healthcare is broken. I am fighting with fxuking radiologists who were in network at the time, but suddenly stopped taking our insurance and are now out of network, and i'm having to pay the full deductible for when they read my wife's CT scan.
All in all, yes, our healthcare system is borked, but it's a hell of a lot better than some of the shit I and others had to deal with in the Navy.
You realize you can swear here right?fxuking

This is the most commonly forgotten thing about healthcare in US as it relates to cost. We're already essentially paying for a minimal form of universal health care in one way or another, why not make some sense out of it?
Also, from what I understand, doctors despise dealing with health insurance companies, drastically increases the workload on primary care physicians and such.
If god did not want you to swear then swear words would not have been invented.
Thou shall not say fucking on the internet.
The only time I like to say fucking on the internet is when I'm doing my google video searches...
