Going to be yes sign up for the f2p beta now and hope you get in. The beta will end at the end of summer so I'm guessing July something DDO Unlimited(the name for the free version) will be released.

I played through the little beginning area and got tired of it after I exited the first dungeon thing into the village. I also didn't like how combat felt like a cluster fuck the entire time. The controls are sketchy and cumbersome and I hate not being able to right-click camera angle change since right-click controls your attack mechanism. I played a Combat Cleric type build, went for 16 str/wis, 9 dex, base int, 12 con, 11 chr for turns, etc. and chose Mental Toughness/Empower Healing Spell for my two feats (human).

I can see it being more fun if the controls weren't annoying and I could zoom out farther. Those two things alone are deal breakers for me, I feel too confined so zoomed in and not being able to easily change my camera view. Also, the system is overwhelming at first to say the least, I've played D&D extremely briefly once and even with my knowledge of the system the interface and equipment screens, etc. are very wordy. I don't see myself playing this anymore after my brief 1 hour stint, unless someone can convince me otherwise.

No it only gets worse. Everyone zergs missions in that game, even if built a pure caster cleric, 18wis, 16cha, you would end up using wands to heal the party.

and the monsters are so beefed up, it's not even fair.

a cr 1 goblin will have like 80hp, magic resistance and saves in double digits.

Also that puzzle there... gets repeated at least 100 times before you reach level 5.
