I thought that Wintergrasp would eventually end up with player caps back in beta.

The way they are implementing it seems horrible to me though. You have to either travel to a major city or the zone itself to queue. And then it's just a random roll if you actually get in or not.

This will be amazingly cool for the people floating over the zone that don't get picked and have completely wasted their time. The random queue element is retarded.

You mean shadow priests. Mages are sub-par at everything now.

Good Mages are rocking PvE... I'm pretty sure they're 2nd in Ulduar (behind Rogues) at the moment. Mages are definitely not sub-par.

    Uh, mages are beaten by:

Rogues, Ferals, Death Knights, Warlocks, etcetc.

Mages are being beaten by hybrids in DPS, they must remain stationary to DPS, and their mana regeneration mechanics are sorely outdated and lacking.

Plus PvP is still World of Melee/Treecraft

Personally i dont belive our ( mages ) dps is that far off, its just alot of the fights really favour melee over casters in terms of dps. Fights like hodir and vezax are nice but like melee on XT its not a great fight for measureing a classes dps.

ID personally like to see more threat recution talents for the current mage raid spec of 20/51/0, 10% really doesnt cut although the change to invis is a nice move.

I have a 80 mage too, I'll totally agree with you that mana regen mechanics are disgustingly antiquated, but mage can really hold their own in aoe still. Not that it matters honestly, because cmon, loltrash.

Im just wondering if the groups in wg will be automatic, cause it will be kinda stupid to be inviting people as the battle starts

Say hello to fan of kinves for me please.

Also, RNG DPS is completely awesome. You get bad RNG one fight and you lose 3k DPS with FFB/Fireball, and you did absolutely nothing different. Arcane just needs to be looked at again for the millionth time, fixing either sustainablility or protection on our mana regen. I don't mind riding the line on mana with my mage, but goddamn if it isn't retarded losing 30% of your DPS potential for 2min because of random unavoidable raid AoE damage.

Completely agree. Nothing like hitting evocate then have a void zone pop up under you at the same time. Now you're fucked for 2 more minutes. Time to whip out the wand! Yay?

I'll concede fan of knives, i had forgotten about that

Its not even the void zones that bother me, its random chain lightnings/falling rocks/idiots that kill me every time. I had some jackass move four feet because he couldn't stand still and kill 7 people in a 25 man emalon. That's a new record in jackassery.

    I'm still reserving judgement though.

I can't agree more here. 10% on a fight like Hodir is a drop in the bucket when you're spiking over 10k threat per sec. Crappy luck on invis and you get to sit there with your thumb up your ass and watch everyone else play with the fun buffs.

Fan of Knives can't be grouped with mage or caster aoe.

In a large group of mobs with low health, yeah it raped. But it costs 50 enegry, and can only be spammed a couple times... the higher health and larger the group, the less it gets spammed and the lower the rogue drops on the meter. In naxx spider wing, sure rogue can hit 20k dps, but he'll drop well below 10k in other groups where the priests and mages dominate.

The thing with FoK is that while it is costly, it's an easy way of applying poisons (woot, free extra damage!), and it comes from an infinite source.

The problem with Mage AoE is that it's limited by how well the tanks are playing, as all of it is target besides Living bomb, which often doesn't tick off long enough on the packs you would be aoeing rather than single target DPS. More of the caster AOE needs to mimic SoC/Mindsear/Living bomb, and having less reliance on placed reticules because mob mechanics.

The best mage AoE rotation requires the mage to use downranked spells because it causes extra DoT damage. The other thing with most caster AoE is that it's too costly, especially in the case of the mage, who has no real mana management methods, and their AoE is relegated to 1 spec out of their 3 possible raiding specs. I routinely have to go without casting AoE during AoE phases because I won't be able to continue DPS on the boss or meet my mana totals to keep a constant flow of DPS. And that needs a fix.

Regardless of what Blizzard said, this game is just going to be nerfed to the point that it's like FFXI all over again. I'm a tanking DK, I'm well geared, and I enjoy doing it. Having a few extra perks other tanking classes don't have shouldn't make every raiding guild use DKs over anything else, however, if well-geared DK tanks is mostly what a guild has available to them, that's what they'll use. We'll have to see how these changes turn out, I'll be really bummed if if I log on patch day with a considerable amount of my HP lost. From what I can tell Prot pallies are really getting buffed to OP levels, which brings us back to square one, where people are only going to want to use pallies for tanking over everything else. In any case, I'm just stating my opinion, with a tinge of sarcasm, I guess if I have to go DPS I will :3

Having a few uncompensated advantages over other tank types is exactly what would make every raiding guild use DKs.

This, and swipe is pretty much a better version. Only downside is the need for a target, and a slightly lower range I believe. It hits harder, costs 5 energy less, ferals get clearcasting procs, and can use tigers fury to get an instant 60 energy. Berserk as well if you chose to use it for swipe spam.

It can't really be done well on a fight that you need to single target a boss, kill adds for a bit, and repeat, but if you're doing AoE only like during Thorim's arena, it's ridiculous.

The nerfs aren't anything unfair to DK's. And the buff to paladins is hardly that useful. Prot paladins will still be unable to tank General Vezax without the aid of an outside cooldown, when a DK, warrior and druid all can handle it themselves. The BV change really doesn't have much effect, there are only a couple pieces of gear with BV on them in a MT set and that won't change even if more BV comes from them. I don't see why you're complaining about your health getting nerfed, in a raid our DK tank has 5k more health than me, that's a HUGE difference in health. 2-2.5k should be the max health difference between tanks because of the abilities that deal with a big amount of damage (Sartharion breaths, Hodir frozen blows, etc.)

From what I've read everyone thinks druids are going to be the new flavor of the month tank, not paladins, anyway. I can see it being the case, but we'll be closer to balanced with DK's nerfed again. As well, DK's should NOT be the most common tank in the game for a while. There are lots of guilds that have had warrior tanks since vanilla or druid/pally tanks since TBC and they should not be benching those people for DK's. If they are, that's the sign that things are unbalanced. You shouldn't be benching people who have raided with you for two years from their position just because of their class. That's pretty much exactly against their design motto for WotLK.

Sure would be nice if Paladin could be the best at 1 damn thing in WoW for more than 10 seconds without the entire rest of the game crying their eyes out.

Eh, Paladins are one of the only classes that can be DPS, Healing, or Tank depending on spec. Sure, that didn't stop Druid from being top of the line, but should it be that way? I don't think so.

In any case, stop crying about people crying about something.

I wouldn't care about people crying if it didn't lead to Paladins starting out well and fading into shit in beta, vanilla, and every expansion.
