Yes. Plants vs Zombies was probably the best damn tower defense I'll ever play. It actually makes you laugh/keeps you entertained (visually/music/etc) aside from being a pretty challenging game.

If you're looking for something online, play Gemcraft.

I'd definately stay away from chapter 0 until you beat the first one. I couldn't really get into chapter 0 either. They bumped the difficulty to a more noticeable level, added a ton of shit but I guess it kind of killed the simplicity and fun that was Gemcraft. : p

If you play/own Warcraft III you can play Element TD. Probably my favorite TD out of all the Warcraft ones.
