Okay so I've just had a 6 month haiatus from the game and I decided today I'd like to start playing again. Since I last stopped playing though I've had my harddrive wiped and today I tried installing the game again but I hit a snag.

I downloaded the special Vista POL setup.exe from the website and installed it with no issues, the problem came when I tried to install FFXI, I put the disk in but when I ran the setup it said that I could not install the game because POL was not installed.

Because I have an old old old edition of the game that came with a POL disk I thought it might be some sort of compatibility error so I inserted the old POL disk thinking I could simply overwrite the old POL files, install FFXI, and then overwrite the old POL files by downloading the Vista POL again.

After I had done all this the icon for FFXI on the desktop changed and when I tried to load it an error message came up straight away that said POL had stopped working. I tried loading up POL an just accessing FFXI from the games list but when I clicked play it just said that FFXI wasn't installed.

So I currently have the Vista POL installed and all the FFXIs but there's just an issue somewhere and I can't figure it out. It might be a really obvious solution, I'm just no good with computers at all :S If anyone can shed some light on the situation I would greatly appreciate it.
