For all the great films and music videos that Liv Tyler has been in, including Empire Records, as well as her famous father, it was only when she starred as Arwen in the LoTR trilogy that she got international recognition as an actress. A slight reminder:

Spoiler: show
In my opinion she was at her fittest in Empire Records, she looked great, but her career will survive almost solely based on this Trilogy, although I'm looking forward to her 10a/10b film coming up -- but I don't want to focus on that or I'd have made this in Bentertainment.
I guess I'd like to look at other celebrities and influential figures who are famous for weaker roles, although nonetheless very attractive or accessible (in the case of books or music). In my opinion, Liv Tyler is the best example of an origin of a species of models turned actresses who are admired not just for beauty, duh, but for their acting (see Milla Jovovich's career shortly after Liv's started to take off).
I think Truman Capote is more famous for his lesser novel and I can think of a few other authors as well.
