Hello. I am currently trying to figure out why I cannot login to playonline. I consider myself pretty computer savvy, I'll try to give as many details as I can. This post is my last resort to see if maybe anyone can offer some advice I could not think of myself.

I am currently living in an Army barracks in South Korea, and I recently changed rooms. In my old room I could connect to FFXi using my cable internet connection through my router. (I could only connect to FFXi if I went through my router, I could not connect if I plugged strait into the modem.)

I recently changed rooms. Using the exact same hardware I can no longer login to POL. I can surf the web, play other online games, download at fast speeds, but I cannot connect to POL. When I try to login to POL, it times-out at "Checking Playonline Viewer Version," and gives me error POL-1160 after approx 10-15 seconds.

I've tried turning off Windows firewall, my router firewall, and my anti-virus. I tried configuring the router to forward FFXi ports, TCP 25, 80, 110, 443, 50000-65XXX, and UDP 50000-65XXX. I've tried to plug into the modem directly. I've tried calling my ISP to see if there are any block ports (they claim there are not.) I've tried wireless and wired connections to my router and I tried using a proxy server. I've searched the web for similar problems/solutions for about 2 weeks now. I need a FFXi injection, I am fiending.

There are some unsecured wireless networks in my area that I can use to successfully connect to POL and FFXi. They are however very unreliable. There is only one ISP available in our building, so everyone is using the same provider. I can't figure out why I cannot get POL to connect in my specific room using my own hardware, when the exact same setup worked in my previous room (same building). It is driving me nuts. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe my room is hooked up to a shitty switch?

I am using Windows Vista x64 and a D-Link gamerlounge router.
