It's actually grilled, and it's the saltiest, most delicious thing you'll ever eat that doesn't look like a tumor.
Americans would eat a human burger if it was wrapped in bacon and smothered in melted processed cheese.
Mozzarella (second most common easily)
American (easily the most common... but a lot less lately. it kinda wears on you after a couple years)
Parmesan (grated to powder)
Parmesan (grated to strips, on italian food only, I can see why people get addicted)
Cheddar, sharp and mild
Swiss (my favorite by far)
Monterey Jack (melted, oh god that was fun)
Brie
Cheese Whiz
Swiss is the best cheese, anyone who disagrees is just a fanboy
Or a casual cheese eater
All cheeses have their places except maybe casu marzu.
On the more slightly obscure side, excluding spiced and herbed variants of existing cheeses, i.e. some great cheddar made with porter that I had, caciocavallo is rather nice.
Brie is greatsnacktier.
Swiss and mushrooms is ALWAYS a winning combination. ALWAYS.
Wawa has a deal for the next month and a half, every 2 weeks they are offering a different 6" hoagie for $3. This week it's a cheesesteak, I think I'm going to go get one. What cheese should I get?
Provolone.
But I am Canadian so my opinion is invalid on this subject.
I actually don't like provolone too much, though that is one of the acceptable options. American, Provolone, or Cheese Whiz only on steaks. Wawa is offering Swiss too, I'm tempted to get it with that though I can never tell another person if I do.
It would probably be very good although you will have to live a secret double life if you do.
It might be acceptable if you don't refer to it as a cheesesteak.
6" Beef-filled swiss sandwich.
I think you have found a loophole.
pepper jack ftw!
provolone ain't too bad either~
