I saw the situation posted in General quite a bit differently than most people. Maybe it's just me - the guy has been dating her on and off for four years, obviously there's something there. Throwing away four years of working toward a potential long-lasting relationship should be a last resort.

Sure, she's clueless and extreme, actually she's being a bit of a bitch. But it sounds like she's getting a little nervous/frightened at the prospect of taking the relationship to the next level and doesn't really know how to cope with the potential change. She's certainly approaching it in all the wrong ways, but I'm against throwing away a four year relationship over a misguided ultimatum.

There's nothing wrong with giving it a few weeks or months to see how it pans out. If her attitude toward the relationship has done a complete 180 then obviously she's not the same person that he liked before. In that case, yeah, get it over with.

All this is moot anyways. I was standing up for her until I found out about the no-masturbation thing. That's silly. Asking the guy to try celibacy is fine but telling him that you're not going to help him get his rocks off and that he can't even do it by himself . . yeah, nevermind.
