Yes, they did confirm that they would work for FF14.

You don't have to have a token to use the app. I downloaded the iPhone app for my WoW account and I never purchased one of the tokens.

The thing that sucks is, if you delete the app, or your phone crashes, etc., You're fucked. If you re-download the program, you get a new serial number along with new codes. I have since removed it from my WoW account since I don't wanna get locked out if my phone crashes.

How about for us that actually ordered, got charged for it 2 months back and never received it because they keep telling us to wait for a callback from them since it seems it got "lost" in the mail. This is unbelievable.

It's the same as if you lose the authenticator token or run over it with your car--you call them, answer a few questions, and they remove it from your account.

Plus, if you restore from a backup of your iPhone in iTunes, you keep the existing serial number (although this only seems to work if you restore to the same physical phone).

True, but for example:

I upgraded to OS 3.0 last week. Somehow, iTunes made duplicate copies of all my apps that were currently on my iPhone. I had doubles of everything, so the only way to fix it was to wipe the apps currently in iTunes and resync the phone.

It's shit like that that makes me not wanna use the iPhone app.

I also heard that if you had an authenticator before you used the app you needed to have the serial number to use the app and when the new app version came out you had to reenter the serial number. The reason I remember this is because people that some people that used the app tossed their authenticators and when they updated their app they were screwed.

It does suck, absolutely. But you are going to be sadly disappointed in life if you think you are never going to have to deal with something that is back ordered.

Token presales for Japan opened about an hour and a half ago. Finally got mine ordered. The interface switched completely to English as soon as I said it needed to be shipped to the US.

Izzy is exactly right. Blizzard and SE are using the same company. If they run out of tokens what is SE supposed to do?

It is SE's fault. They should have ordered in bulk in advance instead of being stupid and making everyone rush to order it again, becuase there are limited quantites.

I imagine SE getting a call from the company who makes them "hey SE we got more security tokens made up, only 10,000 though" SE "yay time to make an offical notification and put them back up for sale"

Instead they should have ordered more until they had a good supply of inventory then put them back up for sale so they would be availible for everyone. Not this, we'll get what we can and they say sorry when they sell out again bullshit.

If SE was really wanting everyone to have these for security purposes then they would make sure EVERYONE was able to get one. but they dont care, its all about the money.

I've been trying to order my token since ~ 12:00 Midnight PST but kept getting a "Maintenance" page from the token sales page (along with a slew of connection errors from the servers being overloaded I'd guess), now it says they are sold out, that mean I'm SoL until the next batch? Or have they not put them back up for sale yet.

Does it really matter too much if I put only the 5 digit zip code or the 5 digits followed by the 4 digits after the dash? Live in a house not an apartment. Feeling paranoid after not getting my token the first time around.
