SE: New Avatars will be introduced in the next update.
Two weeks after the update...
SMN: The job is teh sucks, wut we need iz moar avatarz!!11!1!!?
Well, now SE sees we liked ACP a lot.The sales figure of Addon ACP is higher than expected.
Don't give a fuck.
Campaign = Ancient Currency is all I give a shit about. Knowing SE, it won't really be worth the effort though.
And FF14 is going to suck some balls if the same dev crew is on it. Clearly they're too damn dense to learn what the playerbase wants in almost a decade. They sure as shit won't figure it out in the next two years.
Yeah, because Level Sync, FoV, even the two-handed update shows they clearly have no idea what is going on with the player base.
I am not saying that the game doesn't still have problems but you have to be blind to not notice that the development team is much more responsive to player needs. Hell, the fact that more casual leveling was the first thing they mentioned about FFXIV proves that.
Honestly, you are just making personal complaints which may be valid but they are a question of personal preference not of problems in overarching game design.
Nice, paying 10 dollars for an avatar this time.
If the next add-on gives gear on the level of the ACP-completion body pieces, the sales will be about the same. People will bitch about it, sure, but make no mistake - if they can get a good piece of gear out of buying it, they're going to.
Like ringthree already pointed out, this game has made massive improvements over the years. Compare old endgame events like Dynamis, king HNMs to new ones like ZNMs, Assault, Einherjar, etc. It's pretty obvious that their idea of what works is generally evolving, and in a good direction.
I think the main problem is that they're scared to totally eliminate/fix the old stuff. Many old players would be furious if they totally changed how king HNMs worked, stuff like that, because they'd see it as "devaluing" all the items that they worked so hard to get (yes, there's Odin now, but that's not exactly easy). This is why I have high hopes for FFXIV. They get a fresh start without all that old baggage around, they can go straight into the more friendly systems that they've been adding to FFXI lately.
biggest problem if SE will actually give good content when FF14 is released and i'll be frank I don't think so even tho they said they would. They really should have delayed announcement of FF14 to TGS to keep player base more interested on the content of FF11 and looks like FF14 coming sooner than expected.
New summon! Can hardly wait to see what it is![]()
Spoiler: show
What's sad is that they'll look at the sales figures and assume people liked ACP, rather than assuming people were excited to give the expansionette concept a try. As you said, it's the sales of the follow-ups they ought to be paying attention to, but they'll likely ignore.
Wouldn't it be amusing to be able to uninstall the expansionette and get your money back? They'd be singing a different tune then.
How many people do you think would uninstall it to get their money back if they had to give back the armour?
If SE can show me they learned "luck =/= skill" then maybe I'll think about FFIVX. The second I hear about an NM/HNM re-spawn timer or a drop-rate not 100% then the game can kiss my ass. At the core of it all, that's everything that's wrong with FFXI.
