Pretty sure that the ultimate reward of the other two mini expansions will be the other two bodies, so that you can have one of each framework. It makes some degree of sense, since the Tenshodo casket asks what mini-expansion you're redeeming keys for.
Point is that an HNM that takes 18 people to kill should not:
A. Drop nothing
B. Reward only 1-2 people in that group.
You are right, Gear =/= Skill but trying to get better through gear is the purpose of any MMO and SE has time and time again shown that they fail to understand time v reward ratios.
But all 3 are San d'Orian in design. The rewards for A Moogle Kupo d'Etat should be Bastokan type armours, and Shantotto's Ascension should be Windurstian.
A bad MMO, yes. A MMO that pretends to be a job, yes.but trying to get better through gear is the purpose of any MMO
The point still stands. Fafnir, easiest example, is a joke yet it effectively alienates the majority of anyone stepping into DA. Dynamis-Xarcabard isn't exactly difficult either yet it's not uncommon to hear linkshells go two years without seeing a RDM or PLD drop, let alone the drama that erupts when one does.
This isn't the problem. What if Fafnir and Dynamis-Xarcabard didn't drop anything. Would you be happy then?
You are missing the point. The items don't need to be there because they are entirely superficial. Whether Fafnir or Xarcabard drops them all and does so all the time doesn't matter.
Complaining about drop rates interfering with skill is retarded. Gear and etc have the opposite effect of skill.
EDIT: Oh and,
A HNM that takes 18 people to kill should almost always drop nothing.Point is that an HNM that takes 18 people to kill should not:
A. Drop nothing
It should be the NMs or etc that takes 1-3 person(s) to kill that drops something. (Assuming "drops" MUST be apart of the system)
I think your missing my point. If you want to pick at straws, everything in an MMO is superficial.
Luck =/= Skill in the sense that I shouldn't have to claim and kill an NM x number of times to get a drop while another random player goes 1/1. Spawn times and drop rates shouldn't be a determining factor in what you can and can not do game-play wise. Let alone content that is purposely designed to cock-block everyone from simple challenges or worthwhile rewards.
EDIT: Bottom-line, no pointless grinding in FFIVX please.
The battle system is not superficial. The players' skill is not superficial. The game's depth is, of course, not superficial.
I am not picking at straws and if you are going to claim I am you are going to have to explain why.
Of course, but neither should drops(or levels for that matter.) That is entirely superficial. Stop bringing up skill if you are going to mention drops. It doesn't take skill to get an item, it takes skill to kill a monster.Spawn times and drop rates shouldn't be a determining factor in what you can and can not do game-play wise.
Also you can only do stuff game-play wise. That doesn't make sense to me.
The only thing wrong with the gear is how you get it. If Dring dropped from a salvage-type event nobody would say one word and you can't argue that worth a damn.
The problem is that they refuse to admit they fucked up the 21-24 hour nm and fix it - the gear is not the problem the system is.
