Do you have multiple FFXI accounts linked to the same SquareID? Maybe the limit is 4 IDs "slots", where a SEID only occupies one "slot" regardless of POL's account linked to it.

No, each account still takes up one slot even when linked to an SE ID. The SE ID itself doesn't show up as a seperate ID on the list.
My best guess is that the C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineViewer\usr directory has more than just home00-home03 folders, and the program will register higher numbered home## folders if they are structured properly inside. If that's the case, you can copy the folders somewhere else, register new IDs to POL Viewer, and copy the folders back with a higher number, to bypass the limit.
I can say for sure I did not alter any folder structure or add folders, it was something that was done inside POL that did this. oh well.
FWIW i have 1 SE ID linked to 1 account, the other 4 have no linking involved.
looks like the relevant file isthis gets changed every time you add/remove a member from pol. but i can't figure out how to add anything to it manually, its all encrypted and shitCode:PlayOnline\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineViewer\usr\all\login_w.bin
Anyone ever figure this out? Would be a great thing for me if I could put 6 or so account infos into POL.
i use a simple solution , have EU POL and NA POL with 4 POL IDs each, it does not matter which region ur ID from until you need to edit ur ID through POL for various reasons( billing etc). and that can easily done by logging as guest in the viewer that is the same region as the ID.
you can download the POL from playonline website too if i am not mistaken.
Edit: oh yea, I dont know how i linked the EU POL to the final fantasy folder but something else need to be done for that and i forgot![]()
Its not fake hes been asking about it in LS for quite awhile, took several SS's >.> hes not someone to make up something like this... I'm interested too tora figure it out!
OP: Somehow you did something no one else can do. It's not that people think you're a liar, its just no one can do it but you it seems.
I would love to know how to do this, since I regularly log into 5 or 6 accounts, and use "guest" as most others do.
Please figure out what you did to create this we would all love to know.
You said only 1 content ID is linked? So the other 4 are deactivated? or what?
Did you set up the five accounts in POL a long time ago? If so, I'm wondering if it might be possible that the four-ID limit was imposed later on, and your five IDs were left in as a legacy.
Also, might be able to copy over your home folders and "login_w.bin" file from the laptop.
Wow...
Yes, he has been talking about this forever in LS.
I wish I would have bet him that that posting here was a waste of time =(
(Because I would have if I had known ahead of time!)
Now that it's been mentioned, I vaguely remember being able to have more than 4 accounts registered as well. But it was a long time ago. I could be imagining things.
If I had to guess, I'd agree with others that it used to be possible in an old version of the POL Viewer, but they limited it to 4 later.
If that's the case, as a test, do you suppose it would be possible to do a fresh install with a really old version of the viewer (I still have my original disks from NA release) and then add in all the accounts before logging in the first time (since that would trigger the viewer update)?
I might try this when I get home for giggles.
Just as a fyi, if your going to test this. Make sure you use an extremely old version of the FFXI/POL Install discs.

I have that same box/cd set (from PC 2003 launch) but I'm too lazy to find it. Goodluck testing though, since I'm curious as well with the others.
I had 4 the 5th has happened within the last 4-5 monthes(definetly added it AFTER remembering POL telling me there was a 4 limit when I tried the normal way). I could of sworn something to the effect of a message in POL asking me if I wanted to store my password or something when I was logged on as Guest and I selected yes, and to my surprise it saved the login and password next time. I really dont remember as I bounce around from 3 computers and 5 logins myself.
Not that it matters at all but it happened on my flash drive(the one I use with my laptop)
I'd like to know how to delete an account from outside the menu, as one of my entries got corrupted somehow and wants me to enter a password before I can delete it...
Sounds like your PoL files are corrupted, I've had this happen. You have to reinstall PoL to fix it, this doesn't hurt your ffxi install at all, so it's safe to do.
Also, I'd like to encourage people to keep working on this 4 limit thing, it's so annoying to have to keep using guest.
I did a fresh install of POL from my NA PC launch disk on an XP system that doesn't have FFXI installed. Unfortunately, it forces a version update upon launch, before you can enter IDs in. I have CDs from my FFXI Beta which I will try next.
...or not. Seem to be missing the POL disk.
Try turning off your network connection for that workstation before you launch the first boot after that install.
I'm pretty sure it only checks for a newer version if an actual connection to the internet is present, so it should bypass.
