    Solo Giant Scale Farming

Just curious what jobs and tactics people use to farm Giant Scales solo. I've normally been using BST in Riverne - A, but been getting pretty bored with that. I tried Riverne - B on my NIN/DNC, but bad luck with the drop and Wyvern TP moves made me give that up.

    Thanks.

RDM/NIN is probably your easiest and safest bet. Grav, Nuke, Bind, Sleep etc.

The only downside is that they will inevitably get 100 TP sooner or later and Radiant Breath/Dread Shriek could mess you badly.

To fix this, keep in mind how many times you nuked, after the 8-9th one make sure they're as far as possible from you when nuking so if they choose to TP from a long distance they'll only use Wind Wall.

Edit: Level Cap 50 zone of course

BLM or RDM sleep nuke. RDM need convert to kill it. No resting required if you are a taru.

If you are > 15" away when you nuke, then start kiting before bind so it won't get near you, it will always do the buff TP skill as there is no target in range, so no worries for Radiant Breath.

Do carry some meds in case you get breathed though. I usually do it RDM so I can do fire in the sky after.

I went bst/thf and used a familiared bird + Zeta. Scales dropped fairly quickly for me so I've never spend that long in Riverne A01 farming them.

    Level 50 Cap Zone,

    Nin/Dnc or Nin/Whm or Nin/Rdm

Easily solo any of the EM or T Wyverns for scales.

Personally I pull with Para, Slow, Blind then just bash em down,... If you get Wind Walled, spam ninjitsu's. Really not to difficult Ive actually pulled like chain 2's there before. Usually I'm rather lucky with scale and get it within first couple pulls

drg/blu can do them fairly easy also. only thing that can mess you up is paralyze. so its real hit and miss. But can be done fairly easy with decent capped gear.

    I do NIN/DNC in Riverne A or BLU/NIN in Riverne B

The EM in Riverne B are cakewalks. The Ts can be annyoing tho.

I usually dual-box them as rdm and nin/war, but they're really pretty easy to solo as nin/dnc if you have to. Enfeebles are key, and bring nuke tools for Wind Wall like people mentioned. KEEP the enfeebles up, don't just use them when you pull and forget about them. Use evasion gear or at least evasion-neutral gear, don't run out there in a hauby and woodsmans, because they actually will miss you quite a bit if you don't load up on the penalties.

Did SAM/DNC on the Even Match ones and was ok so long as I went in with meditate ready and 150+ TP. Tough ones raped me sideways though.

I didn't have a soboro at that point, which makes a huge amount of difference to /DNC, so tough may be doable with better gear than I had at the time.

NIN/WHM, kills quicker than a mage. The 200 exp ones can be a pain in the ass if they're fond of breath or Fang Rush. EMs are so easy that it's worth scouting for them first.

If you have 45 THF you can steal then hide from the Ignidrakes in Riverne - B01.

Likewise, I've spent the last couple of hours sitting in #b01, stealing whenevr it's up, and depopping the ignidrake with hide.

Is it only certain ignidrakes? (The ones past the locked displacement?)

Or are ignidrakes like moblins, where if you steal the platinum coin, that moblin must die to repopulate the coin and despawned/repopped moblins do not have a coin?

Edit: 10 minutes after I posted this...

It can be done, it just takes a lot of time, and a lot of patience, and in the same amount of time as it took to steal 1 scale I could have gotten 10 doing nin/thf+rdm duo.

    All mobs are like this.

The ig drakes that are easy to get to are probably all "stolen out" and nobody ever kills them. Someone probably swings by right after server maintenance and cleans out all their scales. Scales are EX but not rare, so a single person can wipe them out.
