Band shirts. Music is like... the hugest continuous part of my life, and the only way to express that without looking like a 150% tool in public with a massive pair of cans on my head everywhere I go is through my clothing. On a regular day, I don't think I've worn a normal, non-band shirt in about 5-7 years. I'm sure I'll grow out of them at some point, but at $10-20 a pop (making it cheaper than a lot of other collection-based hobbies), I see no end in sight.

The sad part? I'm thinking of tattoos next, but I keep telling myself you can't grow out of those... yet I still really want them. =(

though I don't collect porn I do know the pain of having one particular video or image that you can't find again. and the joy of finally finding it after endless searches and downloads. it happens a lot when I'm thinking back on porn I got off to when I first started college, sometimes it's not half as hot as what I have access to now but that memory just makes it special.

Damn, I get bored of old porn too easily to save it. But then I do have the random pornstalgia when I stumble across an old video.

But I would say that FFXI/BG have always been an embarrassing obsession of mine. Started playing junior year of high school six years ago and never told anybody (besides family) for years. Nobody I hung out with would understand playing a video game for hours over the internet. When I got to college I played it pretty often freshman year and while I did my best to hide it from friends they found out. They'd laugh at first but then try to understand what was going on. I was a bard at the time so they were always asking who the fag is that is running around singing. Now I visit BG pretty often and friends that jump on my computer always ask what it is. I try to explain to them and they laugh. Bitches just don't know.

Oh well, looking back I wished I had played it less in college but it has brought great times. I once synthed Dusk Gloves +1 at 4 in the morning in my dorm room and woke up my roommate from my shouts of joy. Bitches just don't know.

I like to wear fingerless gloves around the house. Idk if it would class as an obsession though.

Unless your home is a cardboard box then I would say it is a pretty weird obsession.

All of my friends know about my FFXI obsession because most of them have played at one point in time or another. If they haven't played then they have spent enough time with me to generally know what I am talking about in reference to the game.

Piercings could be classified as one of my obsessions. I have 12 piercings so far, and many more to come. I like the rush it gives me. All of my piercings are either in places no one can see or are tastefully done on my face.

Books. I have a huge collection of books. Some of them I read over and over, but some of them I just cannot get rid of. If my husband didn't stop me, I could spend hundreds of dollars on books.

I wouldn't necessarily call myself OCD, but there are certain things I like done a certain way and am not willing to budge on it. If it is not done that way or it is out of my control, it will make me feel very uncomfortable.

The dishes have to be stacked a certain way in the dish drainer. They have to be washed in a certain order before they are stacked. If I am washing bowls and someone comes in and puts a glass in the water, I have to drain the water and wash that glass before I will continue washing the bowls.

I make myself a schedule of things I have to do that day and if I am late or do not adhere to that schedule, I feel nervous and uncomfortable. If something about my daily routine changes, I will feel that way too. I have certain things that I do at the same time every day and when unforeseen circumstances happen, I don't get to do those things, I feel that way. I just don't like change...

I totally feel you on this one.

So like, I can't eat a fruit flavored anything if I'm drinking a different flavor drink, or... if something's not the right color for its flavor I can't eat it (like, mystery flavored white things)

Anime is probably my secret obsession, only my closer friends known about it really, it's not something I like people to find out about me off the bat because generally it weirds people out, heh.

I know a few too many of those legendary rock and roll stories and then some. I actually had a conversation with a prof of mine about the Led Zeppelin "fish" story.

Anyone else have this obsession of buying an entire/lots from the same range of designer brand?

For example LV monogram range, Messenger Bag, to Luggages and Portfolios, even umbrella and toiletries bag. I still have flashbacks sometimes when i think of how I used to stroll at the airport, looking like I've crashed into a LV boutique with handluggages, scarfs and luggages all monogrammed.

Or when it was the Burberry craze 5 years ago, checkered trench coat to scarfs, the works. God.
    That was embarrassing.

Between this and the botox/cocaine comments, I feel like you live on an entirely different planet than everyone else.

Don't get band names / band logos. Your taste in music will change and you'll be stuck with it. If you want something original just sit down with an artist and draw something out based on what you want. Voila, tattoo.

I really have no real obsessions other than running. Kind of strange how that flared back up...an accident really. Had a heart attack scare at 23 years old (healthy, 135lbs...weird gregory house-like case/diagnosis), and jumped back into running more than I ever had in the past. I don't even run that many races, mostly train train and train. I don't know if I'll quit after I qualify for Boston next year and run it in '11...there are a few other unique marathons I'd like to run. Here's my July schedule...it's the front end of a Pfitz 18/55, so it's relatively light. Amps up in August. Using it to train for an October half where I'm hoping to get to/under 1:25.

Is there a runner's version of AA or rehab?

There probably should be. Runner's are typically a strange bunch of people, especially in crowds. It would make for an interesting conversation. As far as volume goes, this plan peaks at 55 miles a week. That's reallynot a lot. Probably less than your average Boston runner. Your elite high school (all-state's) and college kids will get into the 90's and 100+ miles a week. Of course, they are doing 2-a-days and running sub 1:15 halves and sub 15 5ks. Then again, same can be said for some of the masters as well. There's nothing cooler than seeing a 45 year old run a 1:15-1:20 half marathon and beat some of the area's top high school/college athletes that are half their age.

After I ran the half with Serif back in April (my wife was 9 months pregnant), I vowed to take a couple weeks off to be with her and the baby. I ran the race on a Saturday and was back on the treadmill the following Monday. I took a whole one day off. It's her fault. I asked her back months ago if it was OK to train for a run at Boston. She said to go for it, so here I am. Now, I could probably go out tomorrow and run a qualifying pace, or come damn close to it, so I don't really need a lot more training. I enjoy it, so I'll continue though. I don't have any fulls scheduled til January anyway. Then, I'm running a 5k, followed by the Goofy challenge at disney world. All in all, it'll be a 5k on Friday, 1/2 marathon on Saturday, and a full marathon on Sunday.

Seeing that calendar almost makes me inspired enough to start running again and trying to seriously attempt to break that 4:30 mile mark I had set in High School. Then I remember I love greasy food too much and say screw it. I must say I think you're absolutely crazy to run 15m after a race day like that. That's hardcore right there. But then again you use 2 days of rest in your race weeks so it makes more sense to do that.

My sister runs just like... the big famous super long shit maybe 2-3 actual races a year. I called her on Friday cuz she wanted a recipe, she's like "guess how much I ran today? 31 miles."

    You people are crazy.
