    Bugged texture problem FFXI

    Hello all.

First off, sorry if i'm posting this on wrong sub-forum and also sorry for my english, i know is rly bad.

I have recently getting this problem with textures - pixels (see attach image ) every time I move camera or something move (npcs, others characters, mobs etz) and it happends to all (scenario, characters, mobs...) everywhere on FFXI.

    Image (can't post urls): img515.imageshack.us/img515/6567/texturasbug.jpg

About image: the texture poblem is that "grey lines" surronding every npc, estructure, names, pearls, etz. The color varies (don't know how or why).

This problem has showed up since I updated PC, due last cpu + motherboard burned, to a AMD Athlon 64, 2200 MHz (11 x 200) 3500+
    Motherboard: ASRock 939Dual-SATA2

I have the same graphic card (NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS (256 MB)) than before update PC and FFXI was working all good, no problem in graphics or speed. In addition I had & have the last drivers for the card and so far I have the same FFXI config like before.
I had tried setting all the FFXI config to the lowest (lego viewer mode) and the problem still persist (in FFXI normal mode, FFXI windowed mode or with windower).

So I can't see where the problem comes from. I have been searching on net about similiar problems and found 2 guys with it but got no help on the problem.

If someone had the same problem and repaired it or someone can help with it or some idea, I will be glad to read about it.

Thanks for your time & help.

You mention that your previous CPU & motherboard burned out.. Do you know exactly what happened (just stopped working, power/lightning surge, static electricity, old age etc.)?

I ask because it's possible that whatever caused that failure may have affected the video card as well.

Or, you also mentioned that others have had similar problems. Did they have the same board & video card as you? If so then it might be an issue with the board.

The CPU & Motherboard burned since the device with the fan moved and the cpu started to get high temperature till the point of no work anymore. The problem of this came from the fan device basically.

One of the guys have the same video card as me but diferent cpu-motherboard.

Hmmm... did you keep yourself grounded before/while moving the card to the new motherboard?

    Your graphics card is overheating.

I didn't do the change, a "specialist" did it.

I tried others games to test it, and they work fine. It's just FFXI. I did a check files too but nothing wrong on them

Hmm.. only other thing I can think of is to check the NVidia/FFXI sticky thread to see which version of the video driver is best compatible with the game, and roll back to that point.

If that doesn't fix it the the card is either overheating or just reaching old age. The 7800 is a pretty old model, though a good one.
