I believe I got it to work.
Now I need a good free firewall. I used to use sygate but apparently that is long since dead. The only thing that googling this gives is posts from 2007 and that is when vista was new and nothing worked for it.

I've tried 2 so far that don't seem to work with my windows. The first one gave some error and the second says it wont work with 64 bit.

If you can find the symantec corp edition online (pirate etc), it gets the job done and has active scanning, but can be a resource hog, but works nicely.
So how are you liking the new computer?

It's taking a while to install all the programs I used to use and took forever to get a driver for the internet. I haven't really used it for anything fancy yet but that shouldn't take long. It's just nice to look at a screen that isn't fucked up anymore.

My computer seems to lose the internet after a couple hours. It's happened twice and needed a restart to get the internet back. I am used to having the internet drop on me but with my old computer I could just unplug the wireless thing and plug it back and that would fix it.
The second time some of my programs also seemed to be frozen which may be related. I am still installing vista patch things (mine came with SP1 I think) so it may be a vista problem.
